I remember Nicholas mentioning that if I was ever in San Antonio, I should let him know so we could catch up. When I finished my internship rotation in San Antonio, I reached out to let him know and see if we could meet up for drinks. Nicholas responded by suggesting, "Why don't we do something more fun?" I asked what he had in mind, and he offered three options: Six Flags, Top Golf, or Putt-Putt. I had only picked up a golf club twice by that point, so that didn't seem like the place for me, but I loved roller coasters, so Six Flags it was!

When I arrived at his house, we realized neither of us had eaten dinner yet, so we went out to eat. Just next door was a Crumbl Cookies, so we had dessert, then ended the night with roller coasters. Later, the following week, I started to think there might be something here. You know how that story ended.

I extended a friendly invitation to go get something to eat since it was her last week in San Antonio. We got pizza and drinks, and this is when I started to make my half-hearted offers for things to do after dinner. To my surprise, Alex took me up on my dessert offer for after dinner. As we sat in the car eating our Crumbl cookies, I made more ridiculous offers, thinking this is where we would part ways for sure. Nope, she wanted to go to Six Flags as well. Being a man and oblivious to signals, it wasn't until after the second ride that I started to question if dinner, desserts, and an amusement park counted as a date or not... she tricked me, and I am so grateful that she did.

Nick and Alex can't actually pinpoint the first time they met. Alex is convinced it was at a dance hall, while Nick thinks it was at a college ministry event. What is confirmed, however, is that it happened sometime during college at Texas State University, when they were both involved with a Catholic ministry called Saint Paul’s Outreach. They were acquaintances throughout college, but after graduation, they found themselves serving together in a young adult space within the ministry. As they became great friends, they had their unofficial first date. Time went on until everything changed when she made Nick’s favorite sawdust pie for his birthday. Shortly after that, they went on their first official date.

And their story continued...

Nick asked Alex's parents for her hand in marriage, and later that evening, Alex caught the bouquet at a wedding. A few months later, on May 18th, 2024, Nick proposed in the very same spot where they started dating, and, as we all know, she said YES!!
