It was Saturday, March 5, 2016 and it was not going to be a typical Saturday night for two people who were about to meet and begin their journeys together.

Christopher Conte was going to spend a quiet night at home on that Saturday night when his friend called him up and asked him if he wanted to take a trip to Atlantic City. A bunch of people, including Alex’s cousin Nick, were going and it would be fun. What Chris didn’t realize is that his answer, “yes, I’ll go” would change his world forever.

Alexandra Kolsen had planned with her friends to celebrate her 22nd birthday in Atlantic City that year. It was going to be a fun night with dinner and drinks and her cousin Nick and his friends were going to join in. What Alex did not know was that she was about to meet one of those friend’s named Chris. Who would be an amazing life changing person.

When they got to Atlantic City, both groups decided to stay at the Borgata Hotel. Chris and Alex, who were not people who gambled, decided to play Roulette for the first time with their friends. Chris viewed Alex from the table and wondered if she had a boyfriend. Alex also saw Chris and thought he was cute and wondered if he had a girlfriend.

And so it begins….Chris started a conversation later that night with Alex and asked her for her phone number. He texted her the very next day. Their first date was at the Refuge in Melville. After that first date, they have been inseparable ever since. They would spend their time hiking, trying out new restaurants, traveling, spending time with their two fur babies Gus and Lulu, and talking and dreaming about their future together. Throughout their time together, they traveled to Jamaica, Florida, California, North Carolina, Vermont, and finally Costa Rica, which would hold a very special place in their hearts forever.

It was August 21 2022, Alex and Chris were on their vacation in Costa Rica, hiking one of the most beautiful waterfalls in La Fortuna when Chris got down on one knee and asked Alex to spend the rest of their lives together.

They are both looking forward to sharing their happiness and love at their November 9, 2024 wedding.

Chris has said to this day, “I am not used to gambling and I lost all my money in my first half hour at the Roulette table in Atlantic City that night but I also won the jackpot that day.” Alex also got the best birthday present that day.
