It all started on July 31, 2021 when Matt joined in on what was originally supposed to be a girl's night out. I had recently become friends with a girl named Miranda that just happened to be Matt's cousin! She had invited him to join us later on in the night and the rest is history! Matt and I clicked pretty instantly and when everyone else was saying their goodbyes we decided to continue the night. We spent the next few hours talking and listening to music, specifically Cody Johnson and Parker McCollum. We even had a date set for the next week!
Over the next few weeks, Matt and I spent a lot of time together and discovered we had a lot in common. Post season baseball was rolling around as well as college football and we both had a love for each (thank goodness he was a Braves and UGA fan)! We spent countless nights watching baseball and every Saturday watching UGA dominate every single team they played. It wasn't long before we were watching The Braves win The World Series and UGA win a National Championship all in the same year!! I will never forget that Matt once made a comment that if both teams pulled it off then he knew that was a sign he had to keep me around!
Over the next year we grew pretty inseparable as we met each other's families and close friends. We went on several trips together inlcuding countless runs to Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach and even Disney World! Before we knew it, a year had flown by and we ended up moving in together. Things were perfect and they haven't slowed down in the almost three years since.
We have talked about getting married for a while and what our preferences would be on that day. I always wanted to elope and Matt preferred something bigger that included all of our friends and family that supported us. I thought we had met somewhere in the middle until January of this year when Matt very casually asked if I wanted to go to the courthouse. If I'm being honest, I wasn't sure that he was being fully serious until a few days later when he sent me a link to an elopement service that would plan the full day for us. That night we sat down and decided on a date and a place and made it official!
We got engaged and kept it a secret from the world of social media. We only told our close family and friends as we saw them and asked them to help us keep the secret. Only a handful of people knew the plans for the elopement and we cannot thank them enough for keeping it hush hush for us.
April 27th came and Matt and I exchanged vows in Hilton Head, a place where we had spent so much time together. The day was perfect. We were allowed to be free with our words and focus on nothing but each other.
Thank you to everyone for all your kind words and well wishes now that we have announced our marriage! We cannot wait to celebrate with you all in August!
