Even though they both grew up outside of the city of Chicago, fate (and a pandemic) brought both of them to Austin, Texas in the late summer of 2020. They quickly went from new colleagues to new friends at a Hill Country resort that catered to wellness. After several months of making each other laugh, they both declared each other as their new favorite person and friend.

After more months of humor and connection, they both found themselves working on Christmas Eve and shared a cheers of sparkling Spanish Cava. Bonus, they got a sneak peak at each other's faces(they had only ever been around each other fully masked), and they both sensed there was something more than just friendship in the tiny kitchen where their glasses clinked. In their earnest natures to please others and avoid losing each other as professional support, they both decided to ignore their feelings. As time passed, they ran out of reasons why they couldn't get together outside of work and committed to meeting out.

On an outdoor balcony covered with inverted Chinese umbrellas whilst sharing soup dumplings, John and Lexie went out for their first, last and only time as professional friends-as this night goes down as their first date. Three years have passed since this fateful night and their love story is just getting started.
