The Bride and Groom met in 2016 in college at Wright State University. They met through a mutual friend at the time and they instantly clicked.
While in college, they worked at Milano's in Beavercreek together. Ryan was a sever and Alex was a hostess. When Alex's parents would come in for dinner, Ryan would always be at the Hostess stand flirting with Alex. The Bride's mom would always try to get her daughter to give Ryan a chance. Alex would always brush off those comments and say they were 'just friends'. One day, Ryan finally asked Alex on a date. They went to the driving range and hung out for a little bit. Alex left the date confused because Ryan didn't make a move. They continued to stay friends and date other people after that date with each other.
In 2020, the Bride moved to Arizona during the pandemic. During that time the Groom reconnected with the Bride. They texted every day and the Groom would sometimes called the Bride late at night to chit chat. On Alex's trip back home, Ryan asked her on a date again. Alex of course said yes!!
When Ryan picked Alex up for that date, in December of 2020, he told her he had made seven different dinner reservations and she could pick where they went. She picked Wheat Penny from one of the options he gave her. While waiting for their reservation, they went and looked at the Carillon Bell Lights. During dinner they laughed so much and were so comfortable around each other. Ryan finally made a move that night and kissed her before dropping her off at home. When the mother of the Bride tells the story, she said "Alex came in floating, shut the door behind her and said, 'I'm going to marry that man.'". Every year on the anniversary of that date, they recreated it together.
Alex and Ryan continued to build their relationship over time. In July of 2021, they moved in together in Dayton. After living together for a little over a year they felt like it was time to take the next step in their relationship and get a dog. In October of 2022, they rescued Waylon.
October was also the time Ryan started planning the big question. Ryan knew he wanted to do it in Florida and on a boat, so he made it happen. In January of 2023, Ryan proposed to Alex on a boat in Madeira Beach Florida under the most perfect sunset.
