Dustin and Alex first met in 2012 at Denmark High School. Their paths crossed due to a course mix up in Alex's class schedule her freshman year, which lead her to taking a freshman history class her sophomore year. Due to their last names the two sat next to each other in class. Dustin was thrilled that Alex pulled conversation out of him everyday in class (not really).
After Alex graduated she ventured across the state to attend college at UW- Eau Claire where she would be for the next three years. After graduation the following year, Dustin stayed in Denmark to pursue a career in the trades starting as an electrician at C&C Electric. After a year however he switched gears and settled into his current position as a lead HVAC installer at Nicolet Heating and Cooling.
The couple's paths crossed again after Alex moved back to Denmark to finish her degree at UW- Green Bay. She was working at her part time job with one of Dustin's friends when he stopped by to visit. After that night their relationship rekindled once Alex slid into Dustin's DMs. The couple started dating in November of 2017. Over the next year the couple spent time together however they could, even if that meant watching a movie while Alex did homework during her final year of school. In December of 2018 Alex graduated from college and began to settle into her first position post graduation. It was then that the couple decided they were going to take a leap and move in together. They moved into their apartment in February of 2019 where they lived and grew together for the next two years.
The couple then decided to start looking for their first home. After looking at MANY houses that didn't feel just right they closed on their first home in July of 2021! The couple began to settle into their new space where they would continue making memories together. After the stress of moving settled down the couple decided they needed to add a touch of chaos into their lives and rescued their first cat Milo.
After two years with Milo, Dustin and Alex felt that he deserved a little buddy to play with while the couple was away during the day. As most people with more than one pet know, the first one is just sweet enough to make you want a second. In July of 2023 for Milo's 4th birthday, they rescued their second cat Murphy.
The Proposal:
On a windy and snowy day in November, Dustin brought Alex to one of her favorite places on a day trip for their anniversary, Door County. The entire drive up Dustin's phone was constantly buzzing due to messages from his sister "asking about a truck" she was looking at. Alex later found out that Rachael would be meeting them at Peninsula state park to take pictures for an "anniversary photo shoot". The trio drove around the park stopping at different look outs to take pictures. Their travel ended at the lookout tower where they climbed to the top. This was the spot Dustin hand planned to pop the question, but due to the ridiculous wind Rachael put a stop to that. Thinking quick on his feet Dustin spotted a trail off to the side of the tower that "looked like a good spot for some photos". Rachael took photos of the couple in the woods until given "the signal" from Dustin where she began recording to capture the proposal! It was perfect and lead us to where we are today preparing for their wedding!
