The Last Dance

"Love is Patient..." Love truly does take time. Each person needs the time and space to grow, to prune, and to become the better version of self, but no matter the years, few or myriad, when God is the DJ and puts his spin on it, the right time is indeed the right time!

2002, Alabama State University's student union area is when and where our paths crossed and our dance began; although at the time, we were dancing to the beat of our own drums. Jason was a young, charming fraternity guy, and I was a budding woman who was about fashion, my social life, school, and no way into frat guys. Perhaps my indifference was not apparent, or maybe Jason was unfazed because whenever we saw each other, he always made his admiration of me known to me and my girls. He would always sing this same tune, and without a second thought, we would embrace, innocently.

From 2002 to nearly mid 2017, we continued to dance, aimlessly. Then in May 2017, the music softly slowed and the spotlight became ours when I made a birthday brunch post on Instagram, and Jason "slid into the DM" and said, "wish I could join.” From that moment until now, we have been on the same beat, in rhythm and in perfect harmony and are now a few months away from becoming one as Mr. and Mrs. Bothwell. We saved the last dance for each other!
