Lex and Colden’s first meeting wasn’t exactly a scene from a rom-com. In 2014, he was “Chandler’s younger brother” who showed up at her house with his girlfriend at the time and basically said nothing to anyone. He kind of sat there, probably trying to figure out why he was at this random gathering that his brother made him come to. Fast forward to 2016, when they both ended up on a missions trip to Alaska together. Suddenly, Colden wasn’t the guy in the corner. He was the one jumping into ice-cold water, climbing mountains, and cracking jokes with the best one liners through all the wild adventures they had. Between the mission work with the kids and the bonding over freezing temperatures, it was during those moments that Lex started to think, “maybe there’s something here” And just like that, the spark that would become their love story was born.

How It Started 

After returning from Alaska, Lex and Colden officially started dating a few months later, just in time to dive headfirst into the chaos of high school. They attended each other’s homecomings and somehow, they also ended up at Lyman’s prom (neither of them went to school there, but hey, who says you can’t crash a good prom?). During this time, they made countless memories together, from leading at their youth group to sharing laughs and moments of growth. Colden was always there to support Lex through her dance journey, attending performances and cheering her on from the sidelines. They went on tons of dates, had so many “firsts”—first kiss, first love, first “I love you”—and all the little things that made their relationship uniquely theirs. Through every milestone and adventure, they just kept growing closer, and it was clear that their love story was unfolding in the most special way.

High School and Firsts

In 2018, Lex and Colden parted ways, still deeply in love but facing personal struggles that made being together very difficult at the time. Lex was starting college, and Colden was in his senior year, and they both needed time to grow individually and learn what life looked like on their own. During that time apart they gained a new perspectives on themselves and their relationship. After an entire year, countless tough conversations, and a lot of self-discovery, they realized that life apart wasn’t what they wanted. They knew that they were meant to be together again. So, they chose each other, stronger, wiser, and more certain than ever that God had a plan for them.

Growing Apart to Grow Together

In 2020, the world as they knew it came to a screeching halt. COVID-19 took over, and everything changed. Both Lex and Colden lost their jobs, leaving them to pick up part-time work. But it wasn’t all bad, during this strange time, they found new routines, including attending a new church together. They spent countless unforgettable days out on the water with friends, making memories even in the midst of chaos. Some of their best memories were during COVID because they spent so much time just in each other’s presence without distraction coming up with the most random projects. As things slowly began to shift, they both found new jobs at Bahama Breeze, continuing to adapt and grow together, no matter what the world threw at them.

2020: A Year of Change and New Beginnings

Over the next few years, Lex and Colden’s college life was packed with adventures and memories that would make anyone jealous. They traveled all over Florida to the best beaches: Clearwater, Daytona, Jacksonville, Tampa, Fort Myers (you get the point) even got to attend the Tortuga Music Festival!! There were countless concerts, sporting events, and a whole lot of spontaneous beach trips!! And somewhere along the way, Lex, who once had no clue what a first down even was…somehow got roped into being a huge football fan. Yep, the girl who had no interest in football suddenly found herself cheering for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers every. single. Sunday! I guess Colden rubbed off on her. They even caught many UCF games, epic tailgates, and suddenly, they were not just in college anymore…they were living college life to the fullest, one football game and one vacation at a time.

College Adventures and Football Fandoms

In 2023, we made some big moves! Lex graduated college with a degree in event management, and to celebrate, we embarked on a family cruise to kick off the next chapter. Soon after, we took the plunge and moved in together, soaking up life in our new home, complete with our very own pool! Everyone told us how hard it would be, but honestly, we’ve done pretty well, especially since we’ve known each other’s biggest pet peeves in advance (I guess it helps that we’ve been dating 7 years!). We’ve loved hosting friends and family, filling our space with laughter, and making it a place to call our own. It’s been such a joy creating special memories here, and we’re excited for all the ones still to come!

Moving In Together 

One thing that has remained consistent throughout every phase of our lives, no matter how old we were or where we were, has been our absolute love for the beach. Whether it’s the ocean, a lake, or even a river, we’ll always find our way to the water. It’s the one place that grounds us, brings us peace, and is genuinely our happy place. This past year, we had the chance to explore the stunning beaches of the West Coast for the first time, and we absolutely loved every minute of it. No matter where life takes us, you can bet we’ll always be chasing the next shoreline.

After a long-awaited 8.5 years, Colden popped the question! 2024 brought on some unexpected medical challenges, and because of that, I had no idea this was coming at all!! Colden had a huge surprise planned in New York City! The fact that he proposed in Central Park was honestly a dream come true. NYC has always been like my personal Disney World, the happiest place on earth, and he knew exactly what he was doing by choosing that spot. He even had everything perfectly planned, including having Mendy there to capture our engagement photos. My guy knows me better than anyone! We’re so excited for the next year of wedding planning and the future ahead of us as a married couple. With all the travels and adventures in our future, we can’t wait to officially be husband and wife!

Taylor and Lex first met in elementary school while dancing in company at Showtime. Over the years, they stuck together through it all—switching dance studios, joining the same co-op school group, and being involved at the same church. As life went on, Taylor’s obsession with green evolved into many other obsessions, and Lex has loved being part of each and every one them. Through all the changes and different interests, their friendship stood. At the core, they’ll always be sisters because their morals align, and no matter what, they’re always there for each other.

Lex and Ashley met in middle school through mutual friends, and Lex did what any girly would do—slid into Eppl’s DMs. They bonded over their love for music (always feeling the need to SCREAM the lyrics), dance, and navigating the ups and downs of relationships. When college came, they became inseparable: going to college classes, coffee dates, açaí bowls, driving to Miami for a Drake concert, and eventually entering “married era.” It’s been so fun to see our friendship evolve through all of our many Eras! The journey from middle school friends to lifelong besties has been nothing short of amazing!

Ashley Toenges

Faith and Lex probably should have met a million times before their friendship actually bloomed, but it wasn’t until their wild shifts at the restaurant that things really clicked. After one of their first shifts, Lex turned to Faith and said, “friends…?” And just like that, they went from coworkers to total Twinny’s. Guests, coworkers, and even managers often mixed them up, not because of how much time they spent together, but because they looked like they could be sisters. We definitely loved making it even harder on everyone by matching all the time. 

Faith Johnson

Lex and Abigail’s story started when they were just kids, dancing together. Their childhood was filled with lots of imaginative play. We’d put on the most epic dance performances for my mom and dad, usually lasting about 15 minutes of us spinning in circles to “Ring Around the Rosie” and then diving into the pool. When Abigail left for Kenya in middle school, my heart literally broke. I had no idea how hard it would be, but we stayed in touch over the years. Even when Lex turned 18, we marked our bond with matching heart tattoos, a reminder that no matter how far apart, we will always be sisters at heart. I feel incredibly lucky to have such a special friendship that has stood the test of time.

Abigail Masters

Lex and Hallie met at CrossFit and clicked right away, bonding through tough WODs, shared sweat, and the kind of jokes you only make when you’re both exhausted on the floor. What started as trauma-bonding over burpees grew into a real friendship built on understanding, similar values, and steady support. Their friendship is the kind where you can laugh, push each other, stay accountable, and genuinely make each other better.

Hallie Saintignan

Jadyn and Lex’s friendship began in college, where they bonded over boat days, tailgates, and all the crazy fun that comes with college life. They also discovered their shared talent for interrupting people, though they swear it’s not on purpose! Their conversations can be a little hard for others to follow, but that’s just part of the fun. They survived the ultimate test, the friend group breakup, and came out stronger than ever, proving their friendship was built to last and is still full of laughs, chaos, and unforgettable moments!

Jordan and Lex first met at a mutual friend’s wedding in the most unexpected way. Colden’s brother dragged them to a bar afterward, hoping to get one of the bridesmaids' numbers (Jordan, of course, being the bridesmaid). Fast forward to today, and here they are, married! While their initial meeting might have been random, it didn’t take long for them to realize how much they had in common, especially their shared taste in Docusen men! Lex is beyond excited to finally have a sibling, something she’s always longed for since she didn’t grow up with one. Gaining Jordan as a sister-in-law is a dream come true, and she’s also thrilled to be an auntie to Jordan and Chan's adorable little one.

Mary is one of Colden’s cousins, and Lex and her first met when Mary was just a kid. From the start, Mary’s family welcomed Lex with open arms, and over time, their bond has grown stronger. Family has always been important to Lex, so it meant a lot that Colden’s family felt the same. As the only girl in her family, Mary and Lex quickly found common ground, and as they got older, the age gap shrank, turning their relationship into a true friendship. We’ve spent countless summers at the beach and always make time to see the family, even if it’s just for a short visit. Whether we’re thrifting, watching the boys play sports, or just hanging out, these moments have made us even closer over the years. It’s not just family anymore—it’s a lasting friendship built on shared memories.

Chandler isn't just a brother; he's a friend. Even though he's serving in the Air Force and stationed across the country, their bond has only grown stronger over time. Through shared memories, inside jokes, tons of video games, and countless moments of support, their friendship has stood the test of distance. Having Chandler by his side today is a true honor and a reminder of the unwavering connection they share.

Colden and Jacob have shared a profound bond since their high school days, evolving from close friends to brothers by choice. Their weekly fishing trips and countless hours spent catching up have solidified a friendship built on trust, loyalty, and shared experiences. Jacob's unwavering support has been a constant in Colden's life, making his presence on the wedding day not just desired, but essential.

Colden and Jacobe go way back—from elementary school through high school and everything in between. They've been through a lot together, from classroom antics to late-night talks, and have shared countless memories. Their friendship has stood the test of time, and it's only fitting that Jacobe is here today, standing by Colden's side as part of this special day.

Aaron and Colden have shared a close friendship since the end of high school, a bond that has only strengthened over the years. Colden had the honor of standing in Aaron's wedding, and now, it's Aaron's turn to return the favor. Aaron has consistently been a solid friend, always present and supportive. Colden is grateful to have him as part of the crew for their own wedding, confident that Aaron's presence will add joy and meaning to the occasion.

Colden met Josh at SEU, where Colden’s brother was attending school. This initial meeting sparked a lasting friendship that has endured over the years. Colden had the privilege of participating in Josh’s bachelor party in Maryland, sharing in the celebration of Josh’s upcoming wedding. Now, as Colden prepares for his own wedding, he is excited to have Josh stand by his side, returning the favor and marking another significant milestone in their friendship.

Joshua Peralta

Alex and Colden met in high school through gym class and quickly became friends. They spent a lot of time playing basketball and hanging out, and the friendship naturally grew from there. That same bond carried into college, where they tailgated at games, went to college events, and enjoyed easygoing boat days with friends. Over the years, they’ve stayed close, building a solid friendship rooted in shared memories and time spent together.

Max is Colden’s oldest cousin, and we’ve always shared a special bond with him. Colden and Max connect over their love of sports and their conversations are always full of tons of laughs and great memories. Max is outgoing, fun-spirited, and always ready to chat. We’re so grateful to have Max in our lives and are thrilled to have him be part of our special day!

Max Docusen

Uncle Duke, is Colden’s uncle and has been an important part of our lives from the start. Duke was one of the first extended family members Lex met, and she’s always felt a special connection to him. Both of us admire him greatly, both spiritually and personally. It was an easy decision to ask Duke to marry us, there was no one else we could imagine officiating our ceremony. 

David Docusen

Kailey and Ryan are leading a time of worship at our wedding, and it truly couldn’t feel more right. Colden and Lex both grew up with them as our worship leaders, and over the years they’ve been incredible mentors in our faith and lives. They even led the mission trip where Colden and I first started to take interest in each other, making their presence on our wedding day feel even more special and full circle. We honestly couldn’t imagine our worship being led by anyone else.

Kailey and Ryan

Maleigha is Lex’s adorable 8-year-old cousin and she will be our flower girl! She is full of life, always fun-spirited, and brings so much love to everyone around her. Not only is she incredibly sweet, but she’s also super smart and has a heart of gold. We’re so excited to have her play such a special role in the wedding, she’s sure to bring even more joy and energy to the celebration!

Maleigha Thomas

Analia is our sweet little niece, and while she’s just a baby now, by the time we get married, she’ll be 17 months old and ready to bring her adorable energy to the day! We couldn’t imagine our special day without her, so she’ll be our “flower tot,” running (or maybe toddling!) down the aisle and spreading all the cuteness. We are so excited to have her as part of the celebration, and we know she’ll add so much joy to the day with her sweet, playful spirit!

Elijah is Lex’s 7-year-old cousin, and he is truly a bundle of energy, love, and charisma. From the moment you meet him, his big personality lights up the room. Whether he’s cracking jokes or just being his lively self, Elijah has a way of making everyone around him laugh. It didn’t take long for us to realize that with all his enthusiasm, he absolutely had to have a special role on our wedding day.

Ben is Colden’s cousin and the youngest of Uncle Duke and Aunt Dara's kids. Our family shares such a special bond, and Ben is a big part of that. Colden and Ben have always connected over sports. Whether it’s the latest game, random stats, or kicking soccer balls around while Ben was a goalie. Ben is not only incredibly funny and knowledgeable but also one of the kindest people you’ll meet. We’re so excited to have him play this special role!

Jack is Colden’s 18-year-old cousin, and he’s been an important part of Colden’s life from the start. Colden and Jack share a love for sports and are usually teamed up against Max and Duke, creating lots of fun memories along the way. They also bond over their love for FIFA, playing video games together whenever they get the chance. Jack’s humor, energy, and easy-going nature make him a perfect fit for our special day. We’re excited to have him play such an important role in our celebration!

Xahmir is Lex’s 13-year-old first cousin, and he’s always held a special place in her heart. As Lex doesn’t have any siblings, Xahmir was the first baby she ever experienced in a sibling-like way. She was only 11 years old when he was born, and she even had the privilege of being there for his birth, witnessing the incredible gift of life. Because of this unique bond, we couldn’t imagine our wedding day without him.
