Activities

Dane County Farmers' Market & State Capital

One of our favorite Saturday morning activities! The Dane County Farmer's Market has vendors lined up all the way around the square of the capital building. Vendors sell everything from produce to pastries. A local favorite is Stella's Hot & Cheese Bread. Definitely one to split amongst your group.

The capital building is also open to the public during this time, so you can pop in and take a quick tour around.

Brittingham Boats

A John Kennedy favorite. If the weather is nice, this is a great way to take in some views of the city. You can rent a kayak or a paddle board and enjoy Lake Monona!

Memorial Union

Want to potentially regret where you went to college? Look no further than UW's Memorial Union. The student union has a large outside terrace that sits alongside Madison's Lake Mendota. Open the public, the terrace has several food/beverage vendors, so you can grab yourself a pitcher of beer, some brats, and relax in the sunshine alongside the lake.

Epic

About a 25 minute drive from downtown, you can check out where we both work and get a quick glimpse into how we ultimately met. Epic is well known for having unique, elaborately themes buildings across it's campus. Check out the website below for how to take a self-guided tour of our beautiful campus. Bring your walking shoes!

Downtown Madison Bars & Restaurants

The downtown area has a plethora of fun bars and places to eat. There are a ton of choices that are walkable or a quick Uber. Some of our favorites are:

-Plain Spoke Cocktail Company (where we had our first date)

-Madisons (great brunch spot close to the hotels)

-Tavernakaya (Lex's favorite sushi spot)

-The Great Dane (Sports bar w/ a billion TVs & pool tables)

State Street is also a well known area. It connects the capital building to the University of Wisconsin campus and is filled with local shops and restaurants. A great area to just walk around and see where the wind takes you.
