Our Wedding

Zechariah and Alexis met in August of 2014, shortly after beginning college at the University of Florida. They both joined the Christian Campus House across the street from the football stadium, hoping to find a community of fellow believers that they could grow with throughout their undergraduate experiences. Zech and Alexis quickly became friends, sharing many similar values, attitudes, and beliefs. From their similar academic pursuits of medicine and dentistry to their mutual love for travel, music, lively conversation, service, and missions, the two friends became closer over their college years. After years of friendship, a certain genetics class in the summer of 2017 seemed to be the final catalyst to spark a romantic relationship between the two. Zech and Alexis began spending more time together over that summer, and Zech would even bring his study materials to the local cupcake shop that Alexis worked at in order to "study" loud enough that Alexis could benefit, as well. Over the next several years, the couple faced joys and trials together. Joys of graduate school acceptances and graduations. Joys of date nights and family holidays and outings. Joys of international adventures to Switzerland, the Bahamas, and New Zealand in addition to a litany of travels within their own beautiful and vast country. Joys of finished races, new hobbies, and pursuing academic and career passions. With these joys came specific challenges, including over two years of living a long distance from each other after Zechariah joined the US Navy as part of his medical education. In February of 2021, Zech was rotating through a hospital at Fort Benning, GA., a relatively short 5 hour road trip from St. Augustine, FL., one of Zech and Alexis' favorite date night locations throughout their relationship. While they were unable to meet during Valentine's Day weekend, they agreed to meet the following weekend in the historic city to celebrate together. After a day enjoying their favorite city, Zech and Alexis wandered to the Castillo de San Marcos, where, to Alexis' surprise, Zechariah asked her to marry him. According to Alexis, "that was the easiest YES of my life!" As Zechariah and Alexis look forward to a lifetime together, they are excited to announce their wedding in March of 2022 surrounded by their family and friends.
