They met in September 2019 while in tech school in Pensacola — Ethan for the Navy, Alexis for the Air Force.
On the first Friday after classes began, Alexis planned to go out with a few classmates. When the door opened, she expected to see them… instead, a stranger — Ethan — was standing there. He explained he was the roommate of someone in her class, and since another friend was with him, Alexis cautiously trusted the situation (and her questionable judgment).
They went out that night, where Alexis spent the entire evening trying to be Ethan’s wingman for another girl — while announcing, at least 100 times, that she had a date the next day. Despite this, Ethan made sure to get her number from his roommate the next day… and even texted her during the date (a move he still swears wasn’t intentional).
The group quickly became inseparable — dinners, errands, hanging out every day after class. The flirting grew obvious, but Alexis continuously turned Ethan down every time he asked her out.
Then came the birthday night.
Everyone went out, Ethan got kicked out of a bar for throwing up, and immediately walked the wrong direction. Everyone else went to the car — but Alexis followed him. She sat with him on the sidewalk for what felt like hours while he dramatically apologized for embarrassing himself because he liked her so much. Then he threw up again. Romance!
When friends finally found them, Ethan still didn’t want to leave — he just wanted to keep spending time with Alexis. To convince him to go home, she kissed him on the cheek… which worked like magic.
After that, the shift was obvious. Alexis finally made clear she was done talking to the guy she’d been dating, and on a night out soon after, she made her interest in Ethan very, very obvious. They became official on October 14, 2019.
A month later, Ethan proposed as a prank at Goofy Golf in front of friends. Later that night, they talked and thought… why not?
By December, Alexis was in California for New Year meeting his entire family. They road-tripped 3 days back to Florida — and didn’t kill each other — which felt like a good sign.
Ethan got orders to Maryland, so before he left, the two got married at the courthouse on January 7th in Pensacola. Alexis joined him a few months later.
They’ve been adventuring — with much less vomiting — ever since.
And now, after years of marriage, moves, and growing up together, they’re finally ready to celebrate with all their favorite people.
