Our Story

Alexis & Kyle's journey began back in middle school, where they met through mutual friends briefly & became friends on Facebook. Although they went to different high schools and didn't stay in touch, fate had other plans for them. Fast forward to 2021, when a simple Instagram DM rekindled their connection. After Kyle liked one of Alexis's pictures, Alexis accidentally liked an old picture of his. Was it an accident? The world may never know. This sparked a conversation that led to a first date at Oozlefinch Brewing in Hampton, and a short relationship at towards the end of her graduate school career.

However, Alexis felt a strong calling to branch out of Hampton Roads, so she made the difficult decision to end their relationship. Little did she know, their story was far from over. In August 2022, Alexis got a flat tire on I-85, and the first person she wanted to call was Kyle. Slight problem though. They had not talked in months. A week later, while sitting at a Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball game, she sent him a text with a picture of an IPA to say hi. From that moment on, they haven't stopped talking.

Alexis & Kyle started dating again in January of 2023, cheering each other on through job changes & promotions, exploring new cities, attending concerts, & figuring out what the next chapter might look like for the them both. After a year and a half of long-distance dating, Kyle took a couple of leaps of faith in April 2024. He moved down to the Charlotte area, started ATP Flight School to pursue his aviation dreams, and on April 12, proposed at one of Alexis's favorite places. He planned a date full of nostalgia, taking us back to some of our first dates and proposing on Yorktown Beach. It was the perfect culmination of their journey together.
