It all started at 1009 Wood. Well, not exactly, but technically, that's where we met and our friendship began. We were part of the same friend group at Baylor University and spent the last couple years of college hanging out almost every day. After college, we both went our separate ways for a few years, but fate had other plans.
In 2020, when everything was semi-shutdown, our friends organized a trip to Palm Beach. There, we rekindled our friendship and remembered the good times from college.
In the next few months, we managed to get to see each other a couple more times. Alexis went to Denver for a bachelorette trip and visited Prent while she was there. Prent then traveled to Texas to celebrate Alexis's birthday with the Baylor friends in Dallas and her hometown friends in Houston.
Fast forward a few more weeks, Prent got Covid and had to quarantine for two weeks. During that time, Alexis called Prent every day to "make sure he was okay." These calls started with just a few check-ins throughout the day and quickly turned into hour-long conversations talking about anything and everything. After the two weeks of quarantine, we continued to talk every day, and our connection really grew stronger. Somewhere along the way, we both thought to ourselves, "Hmm...is there something here?" After the New Year, Prent invited Alexis to Colorado, and we officially started dating.
For the next two years, we dated long-distance. Prent was in Denver getting his MBA, and Alexis was in Houston for her job. Luckily, since Alexis worked mostly remotely, she was able to visit Prent in Denver every couple of months. Long distance was still pretty tough, but we knew the end goal was to live in the same city once Prent finished his MBA program.
In Prent's last semester of school, he decided to take things to the next level and started planning a proposal. Since it was all a surprise and Alexis had no idea, she started looking at houses in the Houston area around the same time. Of course, as timing would have it, Alexis found the perfect house and our offer was accepted in the same week that Prent was planning to propose. On May 18, 2023, Prent surprised Alexis with not only the proposal but her family being in town to help celebrate the occasion as well!
Prent moved to Houston in July, and we've been happier than ever just being able to spend time with each other all day, every day! Our journey is filled with twists and turns, but it's a testament to friendship, love, and the bond that brought us to this exciting moment – our engagement and the promise of a lifetime together.
