This Is Us…Look What God Wrought!

          By Rabuigi Washington

In April of 2023 Alexis and I met on a mission trip to Malawi, Africa. I had expressed interest in her at that time and although we kept in touch, we did not pursue a relationship together.

Sometime later, I thought of Alexis and wanted to express interest in her once more, so I commented on her Facebook posts hoping she would reply and that we could communicate one with another. Upon reaching out, I got nothing! At this point I thought to myself, “maybe she’s not interested anymore”. This was in March or April of 2024.

Later that year, in October, a guest preacher at my church preached a message on the Holy Spirit and he preached on finding a spouse. He stated that when looking for a spouse, you should pray to the Lord and ask him “Who is the one for you?” Then after praying, you should read and see if God ministers to you in his Word, and whatever he says you should try to obey.

Later that night, October 13th, 2024, I went home and applied what I had learned. Through this process that evening, God ministered to me and gave me John 13:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. The Lord used this verse devotionally to speak to me that He will send a spouse my way, in which I had two girls in mind of who it could be. The first girl that came to my mind was Alexis and the other option I thought it might be was a girl that used to attend my church. Nonetheless I thought to myself, that I’ll keep my eyes out to what the Lord will do.

The next morning, out of the blue, I received a text message from Alexis. We then texted back and forth and prayed for each other. I then informed her about what God was doing in my life and how her reaching out to me was very timely. She was somewhat speechless and told me she will pray about it. Which she did that night before bed, asking if the Lord was in this.

The next morning when she woke up, the audio Bible was playing and it happened to be on 1 Corinthians 7 (A chapter on marriage) which she thought was interesting, and I had just texted her eight minutes prior that morning, which eight happens to be the number of new beginnings. So, she put that aside and went to her devotions. While reading her devotions, she landed on Matthew 10:40 that morning, which says, He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Eventually, she let me know that she had heard from the Lord and does not believe in

coincidence and that she knows her Father’s voice. Since we've been together it's been a real blessing. We have much in common and compliment each other well. Our favorite verse in the Bible is Romans 8:28. Our favorite hymn is "It is well with my soul". We see eye to eye on many things. We often also experience divine appointments when we are together. It truly is amazing what God has done, and the best is yet to come!
