In 2011, Alexis found herself on a FaceTime call with two friends who happened to be Lawrence's college roommates. As fate would have it, their friends knocked on Lawrence's door, and he briefly joined the call. With a simple "hello," Lawrence unknowingly greeted his future wife.

Fast forward to 2016, Alexis received a text from one of the college roommates, who informed her that Lawrence was single. Moments later, Lawrence texted Alexis, "Sup? This is Law." That message marked the beginning of a friendly rivalry between two cities: Los Angeles, where Alexis resided, and San Francisco, Lawrence's hometown.

In a fortunate coincidence, both Alexis and Lawrence had planned separate trips for the following weekend. Alexis was going camping, while Lawrence was driving to Seattle to support his friend at a Formula Drift event. Upon learning that her favorite drifter was Ken Gushi, Lawrence spent the weekend snapping photos of the racer (to Ken's bewilderment) and sending them to Alexis.

In September, Alexis had a trip planned to San Francisco—coinciding with Lawrence's birthday weekend. It was their first in-person meeting, and they spent every day together, which eventually turned into several visits between the two cities. Over the next two years, their friendship grew stronger.

In July 2017, Alexis made a last-minute trip to San Francisco, which Lawrence considered their official first date (even though he never asked). After returning home, Alexis realized she had developed feelings for Lawrence, who initially denied having similar emotions. But as they say, denial is a river in Egypt!

As the New Year approached, Alexis and Lawrence spent the holiday together in San Francisco. They shared their first kiss at midnight, and Alexis impressed Lawrence with her cooking skills. It's true what they say: the way to a man's heart is through his stomach! That weekend, Lawrence fell in love.

In February 2018, Alexis visited San Francisco for Chinese New Year, not knowing it would be her first time meeting both sides of Lawrence's family. That night, Lawrence officially asked her to be his girlfriend. Their long-distance relationship lasted only seven months before Lawrence asked Alexis to move to San Francisco.

Now, five years later, they share a home and spend most of their time with their goldendoodle, Mia!
