Team Bride
Karen - Maid of Honor
Karen is my loving, spirited sister who has my back no matter what, so of course, I’d want her to hold my bouquet and be by my side as my Maid of Honor. I have so many memories of us but some of my favorites are of Karen and I staying up late and making hilarious videos of us dancing to our favorite music while using funny filters. Now that we are both adults, we still make silly videos with funny filters so not much has changed there. Karen is my best friend and I am so lucky to have her as my sister. I just wish I could convince her to move to Austin so I could see her every day.
Nydia - Bridesmaid
Nydia is my older sister. When Nydia and I were younger, I thought she was a smart ass. Now that she is an adult, I still think she's a smart ass, but with a lot more class. I remember this one time when we were kids, we were making some quesadillas and she turns to me and asks if I've ever been slapped with a tortilla. I said no and out of nowhere I get slapped with a tortilla and Nydia says "now you have". Now I can proudly say I've been slapped with a tortilla. All jokes aside, Nydia is one of the most loving people I know. I love how honest she is, and the advice she gives has really helped form me into the woman I am today. Our bond is so unique and special and I'm thankful I was blessed with an incredible sister like Nydia. Can I say ass on this site?
Marina - Bridesmaid
Marina is my cousin but is basically my sister because we grew up being very close. We have had the best of times together from telling scary stories and swearing there was something coming after us to being obnoxiously loud teens in the movie theaters, to exploring Hawaii together and getting swept around the waves at North Shore. Though we haven't lived in the same city for more than 4 months at a time *sad face* we have been able to maintain our close relationship by bonding over #adulting life moments.
Fun Fact: I taught Marina how to eat limes as a whole when we were kids and she started to hide the lime peels in her room! To this day she still eats her limes like this... I hope the peels aren't still kept in her room though!
Luzy - Bridesmaid
What started off as a work relationship almost 3 years ago blossomed into one the most DEEPLY BONDED FRIENDSHIP EVER! I honestly cannot remember how we first met or the details around getting to know Luzy because I feel like she's been a friend all my life. From late night Target runs, to going on vacations, to teaching her how to drive. I found her compelling because of her thoughts on life and how she always portrayed herself as a "yes wo-man". If I ever need anything, she is my go-to and I would do the same for her. Our friendship has always been such a fun adventure and I'm happy I get to share this one with her too. Fun Fact: Luzy made a trip down to El Paso with me a few years back and it was her first time every seeing a desert!
Miriam - Bridesmaid
I met Miriam in Las Cruces, NM while working together as Leasing Agents where we lived and we quickly became inseparable! I remember my first day at the job, I was so nervous of being in a new place and getting the hang of living on my own but Miriam made me feel so . If it wasn't for her, I can guarantee my life in Las Cruces would have been very different. My favorite memory with Miriam has got to be the time her parents took us to Juarez and we went to have some drinks. Shortly after getting there, some guys at the table next to us started talking to us and tried to buy HER MOM drinks. After years of working together and escaping on mini get away trips together, it’s safe to say we became life long friends.
Austin - Bridesman
I met Austin when I moved to Austin, TX (yes we know it's confusing)! He was a coworker at my new job and I have to say I was so nervous taking on this new job and being so far from my family. I walked through the front door of the office and I see this tall man with long curly hair standing at the door and he gave me the worlds most excited greeting. From there it was history. We had the best summer of our lives exploring the city, floating the lakes, and living our best lives. I'm grateful that I met someone as great at Austin, otherwise I'm not sure I would have stayed in ATX. Now I just need him to move back from the middle of nowhere so I can have my friend back!
Abbey - Bridesmaid
I met Abbey while we were in college in Las Cruces, NM at Miriam's Halloween party. There was absolutely no "awkward" phase in our friendship because Abbey has always been the most friendly and approachable person. To this day, I could go some time without speaking to her and I know I can call her and talk to her like no time has passed. I have this video that you could say lives "rent free" in my mind of Abbey walking back to her dorm after dropping her off one morning. She had spent the night at my apartment and the leggings she worn the next morning were a little see through so as expected, in the sunlight her whole butt was up for display!
Team Groom
Jose Avila - Best Man
Jose and I have been friends since high school and I have gotten him two jobs in his lifetime, one at Cinemark and one at Sam’s club where he proceeded to crash the carts outside into customer’s vehicle on two separate occasions. ( He didn’t last long) We went on to study mechanical engineering together, he graduated one semester ahead of me and I had to take my last two classes by myself, he’s a bit selfish like that. Super smart and kind. 8/10
Sebastian Flores - Groomsmen
I met Sebastian in the 7th grade, and we have been friends for over half my life. He literally taught me how to speak English. In middle school once he got in trouble for leaving the campus running over to the Albertsons across the street and buying a dozen donuts for the class. Most selfless guy you’ll ever know, join him to go have a beer or ten. 8/10
Julio Sanchez - Groomsmen
He is more liberal than your gay cousin and has a masters from UT. Hook ‘Em. Not a very good Super Smash player but I still love him. He plays the ukulele, the guitar, sings some mean karaoke and can spit mad flows. A true Austinite. 8/10
Daniel Aburto - Groomsmen
Daniel Daniel Daniel what can I say, he is an architect in a world of engineers. Literally. He will do renderings with purple sunsets and floating stairs with absolutely no structural integrity. If you need badass interior design he’s your guy. Hes an adventurer and will never say no to a crazy idea. 8/10
Ruben Barron - Groomsmen
In highschool, Ruben used to have long flowing hair, so long it went past his butt. He used to drink a can of monster and eat a bag of hot fries Cheetos for lunch every day. To no ones surprise 10 years later he would go on to become a soldier in the air force. Great guy. 8/10
Belal Azzam - Groomsmen
Belal is a very dear friend, someone I can go to when in need or when I want to know what stock to buy. Good at giving life advice. Bad at giving financial advice. He's a sports fan but still smart enough to graduate from UT Austin. Hook Em. 8/10
Alexia Flores - Grooms-women
Alexia Flores is the sweetest, funniest , most hilarious person ever. Has been a wonderful friend and adviser throughout my life, and I remember our long talks fondly. I am happy to have Alexia join me as a groom woman and she’s a 10/10!
