Derek and Alexys met while he was working at LensCrafters and it was his last shift before he started as a paramedic at CHI St. Joseph's in Bryan, where Alexys worked. They soon had their first date which was walking Tinker Bell, Alexys's dog, because Alexys said that if Tink didn't like him, then it was a no. However, Tinker Bell fell in love with Derek and now loves him more than her momma. After that first date, Alexys told her mom about him and stated that she thought he could be "the one". Here we are now over 2 years and planning a life together.
