Our story started in a more traditional way if you look at it through modern eyes (in the era of online dating). We met the old school way at Ali’s parent’s house around 3 am, after a lengthy party celebrating Ali’s best friend, Amir’s 30th birthday. Amir looks to Ali and says “we have a group of girls coming”. Ali was not impressed, as the night was winding down and everyone was starting to head home. Amir’s cousin was still there and heard Ali express his displeasure in having more people coming, so she leans to him and says “ Ali that is not the right attitude, you never know you might end up marrying one of these girls”

Our first date was anything but ordinary—what better place than a Michelin-starred restaurant to set the stage? The evening was filled with great conversation, fine wine, gourmet food, and a small, but memorable mishap. Elysia spilled and stained her shirt (not so surprising), but Ali, ever the gentleman, couldn’t help but smile. It was the perfect mix of elegance and real-life clumsiness.

In 2022, we rang in our first New Year together, at the same place we met! That’s when we knew we were stuck with each other forever.

On May 08, 2024-Ali proposed in Los Cabos. Though it wasn’t exactly the picture-perfect moment Ali had imagined. Originally planning to pop the question on an excursion to an area called “Lover's Beach”. Our plans were derailed by food poisoning (don’t try Japanese food in Mexico lol). Ali knew the proposal had to be on the 8th, knowing that it would be extra special for Elysia (brownie points for Ali). She had mentioned previously that the number 8 is symbolically linked to infinity. Representing endlessness, abundance and eternity. After Ali slamming a bottle of water and negotiating with the stomach bug to just give him a 10 minute window. He set up the camera and asked Elysia to take a timed photo together, but in fact it he set it up as a video. The video ended up being out of picture and out of focus, and mainly showed both our knees. Due to not being able to make the excursion, the proposal happened in the hotel room! Elysia screamed in excitement, and together we called all our closest friends and family to share the exciting news. Despite the less-than-ideal circumstances, it was perfect in its own way.

From the very beginning, our family grew not just through each other, but through our beloved dogs. Ali had his loyal companion, Potter, and Elysia had her little sidekick, Tucker. A couple of years later, Tucker’s daughter Cleo joined the family and completed it. We wouldn’t have it any other way. We love our furry babies more than words can express.

We love to travel, explore new places, spend time with family and friends, and laugh at the ridiculous moments life throws our way. We’re excited to continue our adventures, move into our new home, and start the next chapter—one that includes not just our pups, but some human babies too!
