Jake and Ali first started chatting on Hinge. Their first date was at a candlelight yoga class at the Glass House in Minneapolis on Feb 27th, 2022. Jake brought two different kinds of scented candles (since he wasn’t sure which one Ali would like) and many different beers (as the event included a BYOB option for after class).
The class was very peaceful and soothing. Afterward, a few of Jake’s friends came over to chat, and Jake and Ali finished the night maybe saying 4 full sentences to each other. Jake thought he might’ve missed his shot.
Later that night, Jake messaged Ali on Hinge apologizing and understood that Ali may not want to go out with him again, but asked if they could try again. Ali of course agreed, and now it’s looked upon as a sweet and funny start to what continues to be a loving and patient relationship ❤️

In November of 2024, Ali’s mom’s side of the family decided to celebrate Christmas at Thanksgiving in Yankton, South Dakota. Jake and Ali decided to make it a vacation of their own by first stopping in Sioux Falls that Friday night in a hotel downtown before joining the party that Saturday.
Friday night was spent exploring the options at WoodGrain Brewery and doing some Christmas shopping for family members on their phone. Once dinner time rolled around, they stumbled upon a restaurant on their phones on the same block, booked a reservation, and walked over to eat at Parker’s Bistro. Everything was delicious, and Ali was texting her friends that night, not believing how lucky they’ve had it with all the fun they’ve been having!
After dinner, Jake and Ali went back to Wood Grain Brewery to grab a 6 pack to take back to the hotel. (And to share with the rest of the family at the party on Saturday). Once back at the hotel, Ali grabbed the two plastic wrapped cups that came with the hotel room, grabbed a beer, and brought them into the bathroom to fill their cups. When Ali walked out of the bathroom, a cup of beer in each hand, there was Jake, down on one knee, ready to propose. Ali fumbled over her words saying “Wait… REALLY?! Are you serious?! Are you sure?!” Jake says “YEA I’m sure!!” Ali had to set down the beers (which she amazingly didn’t spill) and ran over to hug and say yes. ❤️
Little did Jake know, Ali had an “engagement” ring in her purse ready to give Jake in exchange (whenever the proposal was going to happen) so she was able to give him that the same night. 🥳
