Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe

Needless to say Lake Tahoe has everything. You can hike along the Tahoe Rim Trail, drive to the east shore to walk along a bike path close to the lake, or find a public beach. We like sand harbor on the east shore, but you have to get there early because they often run out of parking!

We also love going tahoe city, getting brunch at Sunnyside, or a wet woody at Gar Woods. There are also a number of different beaches such as Moon Dunes, or Speedway to go and check out/layout on if you have time.you can hike

Only 35 minutes from Reno, donner lake is a great destination if you’re looking for a quick dip. The lake has over 30 public piers on the north side that anyone can park right next to and walk up to. It’s a great place to jump in the water or catch a tan.

Royce Burger Bar

*Dive bar* but the bride's personal favorite burger in town. Super laid back and rather small.

Thomas Creek Trailhead

N Timberline Dr, Reno, NV 89511, USA

This is the location of the parking lot for the Upper Thomas Creek Trailhead. It offers a typically more shady trail for folks not wanting to drive all the way up to Tahoe for a hiking trail.

Mt Rose Trailhead

24705 Mt Rose Hwy, Reno, NV 89511, USA
(775) 298-4485

The website here is very informative. This is one of my favorite hikes that overlook Lake Tahoe. You have the option to hike 3 miles in to a waterfall, which is rather flat as far as trails go (6 mile hike round trip). Or you can hike 2 additional miles to the top of Mount Rose for significant vertical gains (10 miles round trip).

If you're not interested in that mileage, you can also just take the trail towards the south (towards Lake Tahoe) and do as much as you'd like out and back.

Float the Truckee River

Put in at Mayberry Park and enjoy a nice float down the truckee river through Reno into downtown. Take out will be at Idlewild Park or Wingfield Park (downtown). You will have to have two cars and pick up cheap rafts at walmart but it is an awesome way to spend an afternoon. Should take around 2-3 hours so plan approprietly.

Refer to google maps for the park locations to park your cars.
