Ride the Gondola to the top of Little Whiteface

It's like a bird's eye view—in flight! Our eight-passenger Cloudsplitter Gondola carries you from the Main Base Lodge to the top of Little Whiteface in fifteen minutes. As you trace the mountain's contours—soaring over streams, ski trails, steep rock faces and thick forests—the beauty of the Adirondacks reveals itself.

Olympic Bobsled Experience

If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be an Olympic slider, this is the place to start! Led by our professional driver and brakeman, you'll begin at the half-mile point on the track and wind through Olympic turns known by sliders around the world. Feel the rumble of the sled thundering down the track, speed through one turn, bank high on the next one, and pick up speed on the straightaway. Let's just say you'll go faster than you're allowed to drive a car through town!

Dog Sled Rides

This is a weather-dependent activity. The Mushers (guides) will determine daily if the conditions are suitable. Conditions can and do change quickly throughout the winter season. When the ice has too much water on it, or the ice is unsafe but there is enough snow on the ground, the dog sled rides will operate at the Lake Placid Horse Show grounds.

Skate on the Olympic Oval

This is one of my personal favorites as a skater. Throughout the winter the Olympic Oval is open for public skating or speed skating where you can skate around just like the Olympians did. On occasion throughout the winter the 1932 Jack Shea Arena at the Olympic Center also holds public skating sessions with skate rentals available. During winter 2020-2021, please skate within your group and take care to stay at least six feet apart from other skaters you are not traveling with.

Lake Placid Toboggan Chute

31 Parkside Dr, Lake Placid, NY 12946, USA
(518) 523-2591

Once a ski jump, the newly renovated toboggan chute is also on Mirror Lake right by the beach house. Climb your way to the top and chute down across frozen Mirror Lake. This is a local favorite, and a must-do for anyone visiting in the winter.

The Wild Center

45 Museum Dr, Tupper Lake, NY 12986, USA
(518) 359-7800

Explore The Wild Center and its new Wild Walk—an elevated trail across the Adirondack treetops. Find new ways to connect with nature through outdoor experiences and guided paddling trips, and explore a 54,000-square-foot museum with live animals and hands-on everything.
