Jake and Alice met in high school. Although they knew of each other, they never spent much time together unless they both happened to be at the Skelton household. Senior year of high school their American Government teacher, Mr. Cooper, suggested that they go to prom together! At the time they brushed it off, but they did end up attending prom together.

After spending some time together they realized they liked hanging out with each other and started dating six days after prom (Mr. Cooper is a smart man!) They spent most of that summer together and then it was time to move away for college, Alice to Iowa and Jake to Michigan. For four years their relationship was mostly long distance. There were many trips to each other’s schools, meeting in the middle in the Wisconsin Dells, and summers at home. They knew 600 miles apart wouldn’t be easy, but would be worth it in the end.

On May 29th, 2023, Jake, Alice, and their friends Madi and Eric were at Grand Teton National Park. After a failed sunrise(booooo clouds), too much snow to reach Delta Lake, and a broken finger(Alice’s) Jake got down on one knee and asked Alice if she would marry him. Of course she said yes!

We are so excited for our new best day and can’t wait to celebrate with our families, friends, and loved ones!
