Some love stories begin with a spark — ours began with a swipe.

Our journey started back in 2014, when our paths first crossed. Bernard was a focused, ambitious medical student, and Alicia was equally driven, working her way through nursing school. Though our time together was brief, it was meaningful — the kind of connection that felt effortless and natural, the kind that stays with you even when life takes you in different directions.

And that’s exactly what happened. For the next eight years, life led us down separate paths. Bernard devoted himself to his medical career, and Alicia continued to grow in hers, eventually becoming a nurse practitioner.

Then, in 2022, fate — and maybe a little curiosity — stepped in. Out of the blue, Bernard reached out to Alicia, hoping to reconnect over dinner after all those years. Alicia was hesitant at first, unsure whether reopening that door was a good idea. But with a gentle (and persistent) nudge from her mom, Lurlene — who reminded her she had nothing to lose — she agreed to meet him.

From the moment we saw each other again, it felt as though no time had passed. The connection was instant, warm, and familiar. We laughed, reminisced, and picked up right where we’d left off. Alicia immediately knew Bernard had come back into her life for a reason — even if, in true Bernard fashion, it took him a little longer to realize it (and yes, she still loves to tease him about that).

Just two months after rekindling our relationship, life surprised us with the most unexpected and beautiful news: we were expecting a baby. What followed was a whirlwind of emotions, decisions, and joyful chaos as we navigated our renewed relationship and prepared to welcome our little one into the world.

In 2022, we welcomed our sweet son, Zayn, and our hearts grew in ways we never imagined. Over the past three years, we’ve built a life full of laughter, love, and growth — learning together, growing together, and finding joy in the everyday moments.

Now, after everything we’ve shared and the incredible journey we've been on, we’re ready to celebrate not just our love story, but the journey that brought us here.
