It started with a giraffe.&nbsp; It comes as no surprise that finding love as an adult isn’t easy, and technology often plays the part of cupid. In August of 2017 Alison and Jeff were browsing profiles online and caught each other’s attention.&nbsp; Jeff thought “Man, that girl is cute!” Alison thought “Hey!&nbsp; That guy has a picture with a giraffe! He must be on safari!”&nbsp; Turns out Jeff was at a wildlife park in Oregon but the picture did its job.

And so our story begins.

 







No one will be surprised to hear that when we began dating, all of my friends asked Jeff if he had a passport. And when they found out he didn’t, they&nbsp;counseled him to quickly get one.&nbsp; In the first few months of our relationship&nbsp;we went to NYC, Florida and Iceland.&nbsp; As our bond grew we realized&nbsp;that we wanted to take all of our trips together for the rest of our lives.







In April, we traveled down to Fort Myers to escape the cold for a few days and visit with Alison's&nbsp;family.&nbsp; Little did Alison know that Jeff had a plan.&nbsp; However, in typical Alison style, she threw wrenches into that plan from the start.&nbsp; 

 







Jeff’s first attempt&nbsp;to ask Alison’s mom for permission was thwarted when, after plying her with about 37 glasses of iced tea, Alison refused to get up from the table to use the restroom so Jeff could have a few minutes alone with Karen.&nbsp; And when we got home, and Jeff pulled Karen aside in the garage to ask for her hand, somehow Alison almost walked in.&nbsp; Luckily Candi was there to run interference and Jeff got the green light he was looking for.

 







The following morning, which was both Easter Sunday and April Fool’s depending on who you ask, Jeff asked Alison to go to a sunrise service on the beach.&nbsp; The ring was in his pocket, the idea to propose on the beach after church was in his mind, and Alison still had no clue. 

 







Rather than being led along the beach like Jeff suggested, Alison thought a walk up the road to a hotel would be a great idea, and so we went.&nbsp; Jeff nudging her back outside the whole time.&nbsp; Finally, she took his hint and walked back to the beach with him, oblivious to what Jeff was up to.&nbsp; As we strolled along the sand on the beautiful April morning Jeff dropped to one knee and asked Alison (who was speechless for one of the few times in her life) to marry him.&nbsp; When she said yes, Jeff looked out to the ocean to see a pod of dolphins he had “ordered for his proposal” swimming along the shore.&nbsp; It couldn’t have been more perfect.

 







Now, 18 months later we’ve traveled to Italy, Turkey, the Bahamas. Changed jobs, changed houses, changed states. Had ups and downs.&nbsp; Learned about ourselves and each other and realized that we are meant to be together and take on anything the world throws at us.

 







We’re so happy to be getting married this January, surrounded by our family and friends.&nbsp; And during our honeymoon we’ll travel to Africa so that we can finally get our get pictures taken with giraffes on safari.
