Tell me about the tea ceremony

The purpose of the ceremony is for the groom to ask the bride’s family for her hand in marriage and celebrate the union of the two families whilst honoring the parents, family and ancestors. Both the bride and groom will serve Green Tea or Chrysanthemum Tea as a sign of respect, starting with the parents and continuing on to the eldest family members. Thereafter, family members will gift the bride and groom with money, family jewelry, and advice for a long-lasting marriage. Typically, the best man holds the tea tray while the maid of honor pours the tea into two small tea cups. The couple then picks up the tea cups and offer tea to the family members starting with the parents from both sides. After accepting and consuming the tea, the family members have their chance to present gifts and give words of encouragement, wisdom, and congratulations to the couple.

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Festive! What does that mean, you ask? A festive wedding dress code typically implies a celebration or festive theme for the event. This dress code encourages guests to wear clothing that is more lively, colorful, and reflects a joyful atmosphere. The festive dress code is essentially somewhere between cocktail and semi-formal attire but with bright colors, patterns, and statement pieces! Do it up and have fun. We're getting married and we're going to have fun!!

Can I bring my children?

We're thrilled you're considering joining us for our big day! While we absolutely adore little ones, this time around, we're aiming for an adults-only celebration to keep things a bit more grown-up and relaxed. We appreciate your understanding and can't wait to celebrate with you!

Parking for the Tea Ceremony

I'm coming from out of town, do you have a room block at a hotel?

Please see our "Travel" tab!

I have some more questions, what can I do to get those answered?

You can email Alison (the bride) at ali.luuvenuto@gmail.com. I will respond to email questions up to 48 hours prior to the wedding. After that, I'm sorry but you're on your own and best of luck! <3
