Calgary Bay on the Isle of Mull is suitable for wild swimming, with its wide, sandy bay and relatively sheltered, shallow, turquoise waters making it a popular spot. Early mornings can be particularly tranquil, offering calm seas, though swimmers should be aware that the water will still be cold.

About wild swimming at Calgary Beach

Ideal for swimming: The beach is known for its white sand and sheltered bay, which makes it a great place for a swim.

Conditions: The bay is often sheltered from waves, but can still be windy.

Water temperature: Visitors should be prepared for cold Scottish waters, as "any illusions of being in the tropics will swiftly disappear once you dip your toes in!".

Best time: Early mornings are noted for being especially tranquil with calm seas and soft light.

Other locations for wild swimming on Mull

Knockvologan and Fidden Beach: These spots on the west coast offer a more secluded experience with coves that warm up quickly in summer.
