Our journey together started off as many Gen Z relationships did during peak COVID years, online. Jonathan attended Concordia University and Alison attended Madonna University, both schools were a part of the NAIA WHAC Conference. Although we met online, it was entirely possible we could have seen each other in passing during a track and field event (we both were multi-sport college athletes). However, we never once met during our college years, I guess that just wasn't God's timing.
We quickly hit things off while discussing our favorite pizza toppings, and a week later we met for the first time! Our first date was golfing. It was the first time Alison had ever golfed, and Jonathan thinks he's not a good golfer whatsoever, so choosing golf was certainly an interesting decision. That round of golf was one of the best rounds Jonathan ever had - guess he was showing out for his date.
We got to know each other over the next several weeks by doing lots of fun dates and activities. It only took us a little over a month to make things official and start a full-blown relationship.
Over the 3+ years Alison and Jonathan have been together they have gone through so much. She was there for him when his dad got sick and passed away. He has been there for her during her trials and tribulations with her running and professional career. We have learned a great deal of life skills from each other.
After all of the ups, downs, and everything in-between, we know we can get through anything as long as we have each other. We balance each other out, and keep Christ at the center of our lives. This is just the beginning of our story.
