After Alissa graduated college in 2020, she was placed in New Orleans for her job, where Austin had been at that point for a couple of years. Austin and Alissa became good friends in the few months after she arrived before he took a job back home in the Indianapolis area. Following his departure, they visited each other a couple of times and decided to pursue a long-distance relationship.

Alissa moved to Wichita, Kansas a few months later and Austin became a regular visitor. They contemplated together what the next move would be, and Alissa decided to head back to New Orleans for a while before determining the ultimate end of the long-distance. Shortly after moving back down to "The Big Easy", Alissa saw a job opportunity with her company open up in Indianapolis. She moved from New Orleans in January, 2023. The endless flights and goodbye hugs (and tears) were finally done!

Although the couple believes the long-distance only made their bond even stronger, it was such a fun change to be able to hang out and go on dates anytime! Five months after the couple were finally residing in the same city again, Austin popped the question to truly begin the rest of their lives together!
