Let’s rewind to 2014. Cameron was a sophomore at Michigan State University, and Ali was a freshman at Central Michigan University. One weekend, Cameron was visiting some friends at CMU, and after a night out, fate intervened. As they were each leaving different parties, they happened to cross paths. A quick conversation led to Cameron asking for Ali’s number—and while they exchanged social media info and became internet friends, the phone number he got ended up being one digit off.

Fast forward to 2019: Ali was at a happy hour with coworkers in downtown Royal Oak, and Cameron happened to be there too. He approached her, saying, “Hey, you look really familiar,” and asked for her number—again. This time, he got the right one.

It took a few months of Cameron replying to Ali’s social media stories and “planting seeds,” but eventually, they hung out on St. Patrick’s Day 2020—which just so happened to be the last day before the world shut down. From that moment on, they’ve been together ever since.

Their relationship didn’t start the traditional way. With everything closed during the pandemic, there were no dinner dates or nights out. Instead, they got to know each other through cozy nights in—hanging out in sweats, ordering takeout, and watching movies and music videos. A few months in, they took a trip to Florida (one of the few places open at the time), and had their first official date—at a restaurant, out of state!

From early on, friends would comment on how natural and happy they seemed together. Even strangers would approach them in public to say how in love they looked.

After a couple of years, they bought a home in Berkley and moved in together. Then, in September 2023, during a trip to Italy for a friend’s wedding, Cameron got down on one knee and proposed to Ali in Positano on the Amalfi Coast.

This April marks five years of love, laughter, and building a life together—and they can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you!
