Our story started over eight years ago when a mutual friend, Wendy, introduced us while listening to one of our favorite singers, Jim. Of course, this happened at our favorite local hangout, Island Life Grill, owned by the Matron of Honor, Jessica.

Allan, Wendy, and I became the 3 Amigos and could be seen together listening to music at local venues. Music continues to be a huge part of our relationship and will be an integral part of our wedding. Allan and I hope you will enjoy hearing some of our favorite musicians/songs throughout our celebration.

Now, back to the story. During the beginning of our friendship, we both decided to try some dating websites and, believe it or not, shared our dating stories with each other. As you know by now, neither of us found love through this unenjoyable dating platform; however, it did bring up interesting conversations that fostered our friendship to grow stronger. Then one night while we were chatting on the back patio of Island Life Grill (I think Jim was on break), out of the blue, Allan leaned over and kissed me. I remember him saying, "Was that OK"? I did answer, "Yes"; however, I was a bit nervous, since he was and still is 11 years younger than me. It took some effort on Allan's part to convince me that age is just a number...AND SO IT BEGAN!

Over the last eight years, we have had our trials and tribulations. Allan has nursed me through cancer and surgeries, as I have supported him through some emotional times. As you may know through personal experience, relationships are tough and society makes it easy to "throw in the towel". We even attempted to "throw in the towel" a couple of times in the early years of our relationship. Fortunately, our unconditional love for each other won the fight. The fight did not come without a price. Allan and I made a commitment to do our best at communicating, sharing our thoughts, hopes, desires and remain open-minded. This commitment is now the heart that keeps our relationship beating strong. Now, if you're choking on that mushiness, then try swallowing this...we are "Soulmates" and our paths were intended to cross. We actually call each other "SM". Believe it or not!

You have just read "How it Began" and hope you enjoyed learning a tad bit about our relationship. Allan & I are excited to add to the story when we say "I do" on 4.20.24.
