Our Story

Alli & Jay

Picture of Alli & Jay

Hi Everyone -

Most of you already know how Jay and I met, but for those who don't - hold on, you're in for an exciting ride.

Jay actually met my mom before he met me, poor guy. He was at a Wawa in Newark (probably using the bathroom, haha) while we were still in high school. He was wearing a Delcastle Wrestling hoodie so my mom went up to him and asked if he knew who I was. Being nice, Jay said "Yes, I do" but he really didn't. Flash forward a couple of hours and my mom tells me the story. She asked me as well if I knew Jay and I too said yes. I lied. Well, come to find out we actually sat right near each other during lunch our whole senior year.

Flash forward to my Freshman year of college, I had posted a status on Facebook (Yes, I know), and Jay commented on it. We get to talking and Jay being the "smooth talker" he is writes, "Here's my number, text me if you want too."

Well I did.

We talked CONSTANTLY. Honestly, I probably texted Jay more times throughout the day than everyone else combined.

Flash forward and I'm getting ready for our first date. I was nervous. So nervous. Jay picked me up in that bright red Durango and immediately started playing Backstreet Boys and Vanessa Carlton. I couldn't stop laughing. We went to the bowling alley (the night before thanksgiving) and it was packed so we decided to see a movie instead but it took us awhile to get there. It took us awhile because Jay got stuck in the parking lot. I could tell that he was embarrassed but I thought that it was cute.

So we went to the movies and had a great time, but the first date wasn't over when the movie ended...nope, I met his wonderful mom. Yes, I met his mom on the first date.

Anyway... flash forward... we took many vacations, shared many laughs, and leaned on each other through the good times and the bad. For two and a half years we had a semi-long distance relationship. During the week, and most weekends, I was away in Baltimore for college. We spoke everyday and of course shared as many weekends as possible together. We made it work and it was effortless because we both were invested.

A couple of years later, we both finished college and wanted to start our careers. I got a job in the field that I've dreamed about since I was a kid, but it was two hours away from our families. Jay encouraged me to take it. He moved two hours away from the only town he's ever known just so that I could pursue my career.

So to Salisbury, Maryland we went.

Finally, after nearly four and half years of dating and four years of living together, Jay popped the question after taking me on a ten hour scavenger hunt that hit all the spots we've made memories at. He brought together all of our closest friends and our family and it was perfect.

Now... we're planning our wedding!
