Our Wedding

We met each other on our first day of fall semester at Cal State East Bay in 2018. It was one of those lovely classes where the Professor forces you to choose a group to work with for the rest of the semester during the first week of class. As any responsible student would, we looked to our left and righto and chose the people sitting closest to us. I remember the first thing he ever said to me as we were leaving class one day was “I noticed your last name ends in a vowel, are you Italian?” Clearly I already knew that Rocco Lucido was definitely Italian. Shortly after that he added me on social media and asked me out for a drink when my plans got cancelled for the evening. Who would have known that Briana falling asleep would have lead to me going on a date with my future fiancé. (Thanks Bri!) I remember being nervous because I had never been on a real date with someone who I didn’t really know anything about. Especially someone who was so opposite of me - this guy was fishing, hunting, wearing camo, and liked country music. (If you knew me in 2018, you’ll get it.) He had a full time job and was in the process of getting hired at the PD and I was a part time student and part time bartender. This was so far out of my element but I figured I would just go for it. He picked me up, we had a few drinks and had such a good time that he asked me to be his date to a friend’s wedding in a few weeks. I was so nervous still but once again, I just said yes without really thinking about it. The rest was history. We didn’t go a day without talking after the first date. I remember sitting at the kitchen table with Chelsea and my mom after shopping for a dress to wear to the wedding all day and Chelsea said “I’ll remember this moment and tell it at your guys’ wedding.” I thought she was crazy, but here we are, listening to country music and planning our wedding! I can’t wait to say I do, Lucido!
