It all started at First Watch, where both of us were working—me, just another person trying to make it through a long shift, and Andrew, someone who, at the time, I had no idea would change my life forever.I’ll never forget the moment I walked into that manager meeting and saw him. There was something about the way he carried himself—confidence, charm, and a style that was impossible to ignore. He walked in wearing a peacoat and scarf, looking handsome in a way that made me think, “I need to know his story.” But I’ll admit it, my first thought wasn’t that he’d be someone I would fall in love with. No, honestly, I thought, he must be gay. I’d never seen a man walk in with that kind of confidence, and it was almost too perfect.I couldn’t stop talking about him with my co-manager. We joked about whether he was gay—if he was, my co-manager was going to shoot his shot, and if he wasn’t, well, then I was definitely going for it. But there was one thing we both agreed on: Andrew was someone we needed to get to know.The funny thing is, we didn’t talk at all during that meeting. Not a word. Yet I couldn’t stop replaying that moment in my mind. It’s like something clicked. So, after the meeting, I decided to message him on Facebook.A week passed, and there was no reply. I figured, “Well, that’s that,” and let it go. But then the very next day, Andrew came into my restaurant to eat. We made eye contact, said our hellos, and went about our days. As he was leaving, I couldn’t resist—I called across the dining room, “Hey Drew, check your Facebook!” He smiled, gave a little nod, and said, “Heard" before walking out the door.To my surprise, we started chatting on Facebook for two days. The conversation flowed easily, and before long, we decided to go on our first date. Dinner was great, but what really stood out was when we went back to his apartment. We stayed up all night talking—about everything, about nothing—and it just felt so natural.In the middle of one of our conversations, Andrew stopped, looked me straight in the eyes, and said, “We’re going to move fast, I know it.” I thought to myself, this man is already obsessed with me—little did I know, I was just as obsessed with him.Six months into our relationship, we introduced our kids to each other. Once that step was behind us, we both knew—this was real. We had something beautiful. Over time, we built a blended family, with four amazing children and one beautiful angel baby watching over us.Our relationship, like any other, has had its ups and downs, but we’ve always remained a team. We understand that we’re here for each other through everything, even when I leave the sink on for the cat all day or when he forgets to shut the bathroom cabinets after walking out. We know we’re in this together, always.And so, here we are today. Two people who, at first, never could have imagined the life we would build, but now couldn’t imagine living it with anyone else. Our story is just beginning, and I couldn’t be more grateful for every moment that led us here.
