Car Rental

There are several car rental options at the Anchorage Airport. We do recommend renting a car to get around, especially if you want to sight see and do a lot of activities around Anchorage and the surrounding areas. Lyft and Uber do operate in Anchorage, though rates trend a bit higher than in cities in the lower 48.

Turo Car Sharing

Turo is a good option for renting a car in the summer in Alaska if other options are limited. For those who don't know, it is a car sharing app (think AirBnb for cars).

Airbnb and VRBO

Airbnb or VRBO are great options for finding lodging anywhere in Alaska. If you have any questions about locations and proximity to activities/food, please feel free to ask us! Our wedding celebration is in South Anchorage, and we recommend staying in town the night of the 17th, but there are lots of other communities and places to stay in and explore if you are extending your trip.

Some of our out-of-town favorites include:

Girdwood (45 minutes from Anchorage, beautiful ski town in the mountains, along Turnagain Arm, also good for day trips!)

Seward (2 hour 15 minutes from Anchorage, a beautiful coastal community)

Palmer (1 hour from Anchorage, charming small town, close to Hatcher Pass and the Matanuska River Valley)

Talkeetna (2 hours 15 minutes from Anchorage, quaint rustic small town with views of Denali!

We are happy to share our favorite spots and activities!

Hotels - General Information

There are many hotels in Anchorage. They tend to be concentrated in the Spenard area (near the airport), Midtown, or Downtown. Midtown will be closest to our venue, however everything is very drive-able no matter where you stay. Downtown hotels provide more of an opportunity to walk to restaurants, shops, and the coastal trail without a car. Please reach out with any questions you have!

RVs and Camper Vans

Another fun option for exploring Alaska is to rent an RV or camper van! You can literally camp anywhere that is not posted as private or 'no camping'. There are several companies to rent from, though we recommend renting soon as August is a popular time to RV. If you need suggestions of where to park for our event, please let us know.
