In the summer of 2017, Allie and Ben found themselves in the same elevator. They were moving into Charger Village, a dorm on The University of Alabama at Huntsville's campus, for a summer internship. In the first few outings with the other interns, Allie and Ben began getting to know each other and quickly felt like old friends. Within the first few weeks, they found themselves sticking behind after a group outing to continue talking and playing pool. Unknowingly, after that night, Allie called a friend to tell her she found the person she would marry and Ben did the same. The summer flew by exploring Huntsville together, but soon enough it was time to return back to their respective colleges.
Allie prepared to return to Troy University and Ben to Auburn University. On the way home, they stopped in Cullman to pick up a little souvenir from the summer: Moose! Returning to college and battling long distance wasn't easy for the two. Both were busy with their studies (Ben more so than Allie) and it was hard going from seeing each other every day to not at all. Luckily, Ben never stopped pursuing Allie and finding ways to make their relationship work. In December 2017, Allie finally stopped being stubborn and they made their relationship official.
Allie graduated from Troy in May 2018 with plans to pursue Physician Assistant school. In the interim, she moved back to her hometown and began working while awaiting PA school interviews. Ben, in his senior year at Auburn, began interviewing for medical school. He was accepted to UAB School of Medicine and soon after, Allie was accepted to the UAB Physician Assistant program. They were ecstatic to be able to start this new chapter of life together and be in the same city again. Ben graduated Auburn University in May 2019 and soon after moved to Birmingham to start medical school. Starting professional school together was a blessing. Their weeks were full of classes and their weekends were full of studying alongside each other. Soon, they were moving from lectures and exams in the classroom to patient care in clinical rotations.
During her clinical year, Allie elected to do a month rotation in Montana. Ben led her to believe he wouldn't be able to visit while she was away because of his own clinical rotation schedule. Little did she know, he had something much bigger planned. Allie was enjoying her time in Montana with her classmates, Taylor and Rebecca. They were all on their way home from a weekend in Glacier National Park, but wanted to stop for one more hike. In all honesty, Allie was being her typical stubborn self and did not want to do another hike - they had to be at the hospital early in the morning! Taylor and Rebecca insisted the view would be worth it, so Allie agreed. On October 17, 2021, at the top of a mountain overlooking Butte, Montana, Ben was waiting to surprise Allie with a ring. Taylor and Rebecca had scouted out multiple places for the perfect engagement, and picked the absolute best sunset view. We will thank you guys forever for that day!
WE ARE EXCITED TO CONTINUE "OUR STORY" BY CELEBRATING OUR MARRIAGE WITH EACH OF YOU. THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR LIVES!
Special thanks to Dr. David Bramm for choosing both of us for the Huntsville Rural Pre-Medical Internship. If it weren't for you, we would have never met!
