The Lady Bird Trail spans over 10 miles around Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin. There are tons of spots to jump on the trail near downtown. We highly recommend grabbing a coffee (Manana is a cute cafe near the pedestrian bridge) and strolling the trail in the morning! This is one of Allie's favorite things to do with friends.
South Congress is one of the most popular areas here and a MUST VISIT when in Austin. You can walk up and down the street and find good shopping and great food. Some standout stops on the walk include Maufrais (custom hat shop), Mejuri (dainty jewelry), Aba (best patio for a cocktail, ask to sit outside!), Amy's Ice Cream (local favorite), and lastly, the famous "I love you so much" mural on the side of Jo's Hot Coffee.
This is a fun 9-hole par 3 golf course right next to downtown. All you need is a pitching wedge and a putter which you can rent there for $1. The beers flow and the balls fly, so keep your head on a swivel!
Our favorite activity together is to set aside an hour and share conversation over coffee. Flat Track is our FAVORITE coffee shop. While it is a little ways from downtown, the coffee is absolutely worth the trip.
Side note: This place means so much to us that we had some engagement photos taken here. We love Flat Track!!
There are a ton of fun bars on West 6th and it's perfect for bar hopping. If you're looking to go out post-reception, our recommendation would be to head to this area. Some fun bars are Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Rustic Tap, or Buford's (younger crowd).
Rainey Street is a popular Austin spot. It used to be a residential area, but each house was converted into different bars. This area gets rowdy during the day and you'll see a lot of college kids, day drinking, and bachelorette parties here. It's a great spot to go if you're looking for fun people watching, but know what you're getting into-- it is loud, and it is a party!
