Q + A

What do I wear?

Formal! Be comfortable but use our wedding as an excuse to dress up! We have the following recommendations for each day, but don’t feel pressured to wear something you’re not comfortable in. Sangeet: Indian formal wear. These examples include a Kurta pajama (they’re not traditional pajamas, don’t sleep in them, not comfortable). For men, if you want to get fancy, there are other styles called Sherwani and Nehru Jackets. For pants, we’d recommend just wearing khakis or dress pants. If you don’t want to wear Indian, wear something bright and colorful! For women Kurta pajama, blouse/lehnga, shararas don’t try a sari unless you’ve done it before 🙂 Indian Wedding: Similar to Sangeet or again, just wear formal! Garden Wedding: Garden Formal! But what is Garden formal? Floor length and cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, jackets, and suits are welcome. Bright spring colors and florals are highly encouraged! Women, please wear block heels, wedges or flats. The venue has pebbly floors so stilettos are highly discouraged.

Where can I buy Indian clothes?

Depending on where you are, you might be able to find some stores near you. You might be surprised that you can find a shop or two in a reasonable distance from major cities. If you can try on an outfit or two, we’d recommend this before buying something online. There are a number of websites that have options for both men and women. Indian clothes can be expensive so if it’s something you want to wear, consider borrowing from Indian friends. If you want to buy something, start with Amazon and https://www.cbazaar.com/ There are tons of options for Indian wear. Just read size guides and reviews! Make sure to only order 'ready to ship' options otherwise clothes may take months to arrive. If you want to go fancier, try websites like Pernia’s pop up shop or Kalki Fashion. Please reach out to Alex or Allison if you want some advice!

What should we do in Nashville?

Nashville is one of the coolest cities with tons to do. If you’re staying in Midtown with us, you’ll be walking distance to several restaurants near Vanderbilt’s campus. A short walk away will take you to 21st Ave S with tons of shopping and restaurants. You’re also a short drive to Broadway, the Gulch, and Green Hills for shopping, bars, and restaurants!

What is the purpose of each event?

With it being a mixed-culture event, there are multiple days! While we know it might not be easy to attend all 3 events, attend what you are comfortable coming to. We’d love to see all of our loved ones at each event, but understand it’s a bigger commitment than normal weddings. Sangeet: This is a night of Indian festivities and Indian culture. Traditionally, it’s an event where family and friends perform for the bride and groom- to be. Think of it as a Welcome Party for our guests! We’ll have great food, games, and time to kick off the weekend! Indian wedding: This will be a traditional Indian ceremony starting with a Baraat, Milni, and then the ceremony. As the groom arrives, he is welcomed by his family and friends in a ceremony called a Baraat. When he arrives at the wedding venue, his family and his bride-to-be’s family exchange necklaces symbolizing the act of two families joining. This is called a Milni. The ceremony involves both side’s parents as a priest blesses the bride and groom. It ends with the couple taking 7 laps around a small fire, symbolizing the various challenges of life the couple will endure as they begin their married life. Please note that cigarettes, vapes, and alcohol are not allowed at this event. Garden wedding: This will be a traditional western Christian ceremony followed by a reception!

Is there parking at each venue?

Yes. The Cordelle has ample street parking near the venue. Long Hollow Gardens has a large parking lot.

Can I bring a plus one?

Due to capacity limits, we ask that you abide by the names included in the RSVP section of your invitation. If you have a plus one, it will be noted there!

Can I bring my kids?
