It all started where many great romances start…summer camp.

Carter had loved going to Fort Caswell for many years as a camper so when the opportunity to apply for staff came up, he jumped at the chance. Allison had been a camper in 6th grade and, as a homebody, hated it. She said she never wanted to go back but it seemed God had other plans. After some encouragement, she gave camp another try and loved it. Needless to say by the summer of 2020 they both accepted jobs to work on summer staff. When Carter sat behind Allison at opening staff orientation and she overheard him crack a joke about High School Musical, she knew she might be in trouble. They worked together for the rest of the summer and often found themselves hanging out together by the pool, the beach, the coffee shop, the seawall, or Walmart after work. She was impressed by the ambition, wisdom, and wit that defined Carter. He was captivated by Allison’s kind spirit and compassionate heart. Most importantly, they were invested in the faith and love that one another had for the Lord.

The summer came to an end and they both moved back home. Coincidentally, those homes were only 16 miles from one another. The two began hanging out more and more and soon realized that “just friends” didn’t quite define the thing they had going. The next four and a half years were full of life changes. From graduation, college, family events, starting careers, investing in new friendships, and both separately deciding to move to the coast, the Lord sustained their relationship and allowed them to grow closer and share many joys. On November 9th, Carter got down on one knee in St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands and asked Allison to marry him. It could have been a movie! His thoughtful proposal and her enthusiasm that followed serve as a testimony to the love that they share and the commitment they are making to future love.

Now they are planning a wedding at Fort Caswell, the very place the Lord brought them together. Carter and Allison are excited to celebrate the lifelong partnership God has given them with all of their friends and family.

They hope it serves as a reminder of the love that God has for us all:
