Michael and I first met while working in the Emergency Department in Gainesville, Georgia. I had recently graduated from nursing school when we first met in 2020. Everyone was so friendly and kind as I learned how to be a nurse in the middle of the pandemic. Michael spoke to me many times that first year. He often asked me what I was doing for the weekend or where I was going next. We both have a great love for traveling! One evening he asked me what I was doing that weekend. I replied that I didn't have many plans as it was December in 2021 and I was not traveling much. After asking, he did not follow up with another question. I thought for a second maybe he is just being friendly like the rest of my coworkers. About 20 minutes past by and I decided I would text and ask if he was trying to ask me out. He replied with "well yes, but you are often very busy. This is the first time you have not had plans, so I wasn't sure what to say." The following day we had a lunch date, then two days later we went on a real date and had dinner. Since we have had many more Mexican dinner dates and traveled to some of the most beautiful places! One of those beautiful places we traveled to was Alaska in September 2023. It was one of the BEST TRIPS we have been on. Not only did Michael pull off the greatest trip but also an amazing proposal. We were halfway through our Alaska cruise and on our last stop in Skagway, Alaska. We had a glacier hike schedule for that day. One hike I will never forget. The day started off getting off the ship very early. I had no clue what he had planned for the day. While we waited on our tour guide to gather everyone, Michael asked me over and over to go to the restroom. We had a long day with little access to restrooms the rest of the day. Finally, I said "fine I will go." During that time, he spoke with our tour guide to let them know what he had planned and asked for advice. Our tour guide getting us out to the glacier said "wait until you walk up to the glacier." It was a small journey to the glacier that is named Davidson. We rode on a boat over to the island of the glacier, then a bus to get gear, followed by a hike to the river that was created by the glacier. We then paddle up the river and walked up to glacier. Every tour guide knew what was about to happen. Michael asks to take off some of our gear. I think for a second it was strange. Why not get pictures with everything on so we could quickly get out of the way for others on the tour to snap pictures. He hugged me, kissed me and told me he loved me. I kept thinking okay, turn so we can hurry and get the picture. Next thing I know he is down on one knee. They don't lie when they say it is the easiest yes of your life! I was so shocked. I could not believe this was my life, and this was happening in the most beautiful place I had ever been. Our tour guides captured the perfect moment with so many pictures and a video. It was the best day at Davidson Glacier in Skagway, Alaska!
