Spend a few hours cruising around checking out all the lighthouses around the Long Island Sound. There is a full bar onboard as well as quick snacks!
Bring sunscreen so you can hang out on the top decks and take pictures of all the beautiful lighthouses!
Spend some time checking out the history of Mystic & New London! There are interactive activities and museums with artifacts from whaling ships to beautiful art pieces on display.
We've been junior members of the museum and have enjoyed spending time here checking out the revolving exhibits.
Spend an hour or two checking out the museum and boarding a real submarine used by the U.S. Navy - The USS Nautilus. It was the first ever nuclear powered submarine!
Matthew works at Electric Boat which has been producing submarines for the U.S. Navy since 1899!
Spend some time checking out the old Mystic Bridge & shopping boutique style!! You'll find some really unique shops and hopefully some good finds.

Allison & Matthew come here mostly to visit the only Chick-fil-a within an hour drive from home!
Drive an hour and 15 minutes from New London, over to Newport, Rhode Island and check out the Newport Mansions! They were all built by the old New York Moguls we learned about in school.
The most famous of the mansions is The Breakers - pictured above. It was built by The Vanderbilts from 1893-1895 and has some of the most intricate architecture & furniture we've seen!
Allison & Matthew have joined as members of the Newport Preservation Society and highly recommend taking the drive!
Every spring we get the surprise of tulips and daffodils popping up all over town. The first spring after we bought our home, we found out there were even some hiding on our property!
Spend some time picking your own tulips at the Wicked Tulips farm, there is one in Connecticut and two in Rhode Island.

This Ferry goes out of Downtown New London and takes you over to Orient Point, Long Island! It is a drive on/drive off ferry so, be sure to bring your car so it's easy to get around.
Allison & Matthew have spent some time checking out the vineyards and small town boutiques around the area.
Take the Ferry from Downtown New London over to Block Island for some shopping or a beach day - your pick!
Spend some time on one of the least touristy islands in the sound! They are known for their beautiful beaches, fishing, and sailing.

This winery is perfect for a relaxing outdoor picnic in the vineyard, so be sure to bring some food and a nice big blanket to lay out on!
They also have outdoor live music throughout the summer so make sure to check their events!
Spend some time picking your own fruits or buying out the Orchard store! They have some incredible apple cider & apple cider donuts!

Right down the street from our house is the Yolk, another incredible breakfast spot!
The woman behind the grill, Dee, loves to make sure you leave in a better mood than you walked in with! If you do happen to go in with a frown, you can be assured that she will pulled out the marshmallow gun, toss some toast in your direction, or if your in the splash zone - they'll get you!
If you are in the mood for a New England Lobster Roll - LOOK NO FURTHER! It is tucked away in the marina, so yes, you are going the right way!
The first restaurant Matthew took Allison when she got to Connecticut - it is a MUST! There will probably be a nice long line when you get there - but we promise it is worth the wait!

We've been going since they opened and have loved the Chorizo Nachos, Chicken Fajitas, and anything on their daily specials menu! Not to mention they make a mean jumbo margarita!

The pizza is only a 5.8/10 on the infamous One Bite website, but it never hurts to be able to say you've gotten a slice at THE Mystic Pizza!

The croissants are incredible and if you like cinnamon sugar be sure to check out the Ebioche! You can never go wrong with some French macrons, and they've got a new restaurant upstairs that serves some really yummy food.
