Josh and Allison met in 2017 through an online grief support group. When they met in person, Allison had skimmed Josh's Facebook profile to make sure he (probably) wasn't a serial killer. Apparently Josh had done a lot more research, which Allison learned because he asked her about things she had posted about many moons prior to their meeting. Creepy!

They connected over the loss of their beloved partners Anna and Tony and became fast friends. Their friendship (quickly? Gradually?) blossomed into something more. Josh required that Allison go on an international trip with him before they got too serious. If they didn't travel well together, that would be a deal breaker for Josh the Jetsetter. He "forced" her to go with him to Peru. It was on this trip, at Machu Picchu, that they first said "I love you."

Since that trip to Peru (Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu), Josh and Allison have gone to France (Paris, Lyon, Champagne, Burgundy), the Bahamas (Nassau), Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya, Osaka), Las Vegas, Death Valley, Los Angeles, Maine (Phippsburg, Portland), New York (NYC, Rockaway Beach), Colorado (Estes Park), Michigan (Ypsilanti), Minnesota (Minneapolis), Louisiana (New Orleans), Disney World, Universal Studios, Dollywood, Hawai'i (Kaua'i, The Island of Hawai'i, Maui), and all over the Southeast. Allison feels like Josh has given her the world. Josh feels like he is suddenly very broke.

In the fall of 2019, they moved in together when Allison's basement apartment flooded (again). Allison was tired of being waterlogged, and Josh was tired of the commute. They worked with a dog trainer to make sure the transition was smooth for Allison's two cats (Soldier and Spy), and Josh's dog (Mr. Miyagi) and two cats (Jack and Diane). When the world shut down in March of 2020, they all weathered the storm together. Their dream was to be able to watch movies with all the pets on the couch together for "happy family couch time." They are proud to say they accomplished that goal.

In 2022 Allison casually mentioned to Josh that a friend had asked if she thought they were going to get married. Josh said, "Of course we are!" and secretly bought her the most beautiful ring she has ever seen. He completely surprised her with a proposal on the beach at Fernandina, FL on May 26th, 2022. It is rumored that if you listen to the wind at sundown at the beach where he proposed, you can still hear echoes of Allison saying: "woah! WOAH! What do I do?! Yes!! What?! What's happening??"

Their relationship isn't quite a storybook romance, but every challenge has made them stronger. Every day together is a gift, and they are so grateful to have found each other. They are incredibly excited to begin this next chapter of life surrounded by their beautifully supportive friends and family.
