We met on the Rutgers bus. This pharmacy-school transfer started talking with me, while I had my headphones in. I responded briefly but politely, and promptly replaced my earbuds. He spoke up again, and I rolled my eyes realizing I would be forced to converse with him. We started talking, and we found out we lived on the same floor of the same building. We talked all the way back to his door, where I realized I had never been so excited to get someone's phone number before in my life.

For his 37th birthday, Rob wanted to go to the beach and release paper Chinese lanterns (would not recommend - illegal in NJ). It took us another week to work up the motivation to go to Sandy Hook where- with a bottle of champagne in hand- we hopped a fence to set them off from a sandbar. The first "non-flammable" paper lantern quickly caught fire, and we had to douse it in the bay. Two failed-attempts later, I insisted on stopping to watch the sunset. He argued with me at first, then sat beside me. 'Isn't this nice?' I asked. To which he replied: 'Yes, but do you know what would make it better?' I looked over to find him on one knee with ring in-hand. Some nearby photographers taking pictures of the sunset accidentally captured the moment. We did eventually manage to release some paper lanterns, and it was worth every bug-bite we suffered that night.
