Our Story

Our Sweet Story

Picture of Our Sweet Story

I moved to Stephenville to attend Tarleton State University in the fall of 2019. I quickly fell in love with Stephenville, TX and knew it was my new home.

I began posting in local groups that I have been riding and competing on horses for years and would like to offer lessons to kids in this area. Soon after, Coltons sister Ashley, reached out and I began teaching her daughter, Henley on a weekly basis.

I absolutely fell in love with Henley and her family, and became more than a lesson instructor.... I became a friend.
As my friendship with Ashley and her kids, Henley and Parker, grew, she started to introduce me to her parents and grandparents. I spent time at their ranch in Proctor, TX and rode horses a few times there with the girls. Over the course of the year, Ashley encouraged me to meet her youngest brother, Colton. I laughed and brushed it off a few times, but finally met him at Parkers second birthday party. I was nervous and we were both so shy and embarrassed because the family kept telling each of us that we needed to meet one another.

After that day we connected on social media. He messaged me and we began talking, about a month later we had our first official date! I was going to look at some horses to purchase and ship to my friends in New Jersey for their horse lesson program. Colton knew I was making this trip and asked if I would like him to go with me and at first I told him no.... then I realized I did want him to go so I messaged him back and said yes.

After testing and approving of the horses, I went to venmo the money to the seller and my phone crashed, so Colton sent her the money without hesitation!! He bought me 2 horses on our FIRST date! (Hes definitely a keeper) I told him I would pay him back and I was quite embarrassed, he very calmly said no rush. On our way back to Stephenville, my trailer had a blowout! My very first blowout ever.... I was petrified, I had no idea how to change a tire, it was our first time hanging out, I was anxious and I thought he would never talk to me again. I called my grandparents who are local, to see if they could help and before I knew it, Colton was out by the trailer changing the tire, like it was no big deal. I hung up, jumped out of the truck, ran over and secretly took a picture of him and sent it to my family group chat and said, Finally, I found a real man.

Since that first date 3 years ago, we have grown so much individually, as a couple, and spiritually. God truly has blessed us and we are beyond grateful for each other.

Colton proposed to me May 21, 2024 on the way to a late mothers day dinner because my sister and I were unable to see our mom this mothers day. We got dressed up and headed to Hamilton to meet for dinner. On the way there Colton said that he felt the car pulling really bad to the right and thought we had a low tire. I was thinking in my head, are you kidding me, were going to be late. He gets out to look at the tire and knocks on my window. He tells me to come look at it, so I get out of the car and look down toward the tire and theres Colton, on one knee with a gorgeous ring looking at me asking me to marry him. When I tell you I was SHOCKED, Im not kidding. I had absolutely no idea. Colton recreated our very first date! He even planned to have my sister and a photographer hiding and they got the whole thing on camera. It was the most special, meaningful proposal.

God is good, so so good, and we are gratefully blessed he brought us together. We are so excited for our forever.
