For those of you who don't know, Ethan and I officially met in June of 2019, just after I graduated from High School at MACCRAY. However, before we met, I had seen an article in the Clara City Herald about Ethan, an 18 year old officer who completed his high school education through BBE High School at the same time as his Law Enforcement Degree by doing PSEO through Ridgewater College. He was hired by Clara City and was beginning his career as the youngest employed Police Officer in Minnesota. I'm not sure if I was more fascinated by the story or the photo they posted of him but I do know he was the talk of my friend group, especially when he would show up at sporting events or we’d see him around town.  While Ethan was working in Clara City as a Police Officer, and I was working at Donner's Crossroads Cafe in Clara City as a waitress, he and his fellow officers would keep me busy during their dinner break. Ethan was pretty good at keeping me in line and making sure I kept his glass of Diet Mt. Dew full. The first time Ethan asked me on a date, I said no, but that didn’t stop him from trying to reel me in. Ethan will hate me for this, but I can’t not point out that somewhere along the line here, he tried talking to my maid of honor, who also waitresses there, in what I considered a flirtatious way. However, he claims this was part of the whole “trying to reel me in” game. Anyways,  long story short, we ended up talking on the phone for a solid 8 hours one night (yes, you read that right) until he finally invited me over for breakfast that morning and I decided to give it a chance. The breakfast didn’t disappoint so I figured he might be a keeper.  We made it official on July 4th, which was when we went on our first “official” date to a Fourth of July Parade, lunch at Applebee’s, and dinner at Green Mill… yes, we like to eat 😂   If I'm being honest, our relationship got a bit rocky at first when I moved to Duluth, which is roughly a four hour drive from Willmar, where Ethan was living, while working in Belgrade as a full time officer and for Appleton PD part time. I had the idea in my head that I was going to go to college as a single woman, attend parties, and meet the LOML somewhere in Duluth. None of that happened by the way! I realized that I was in love and would never feel the way Ethan makes me feel with someone else. God really does always have a better plan for us! Ethan is truly one of a kind and I can’t imagine life without him (too cheesy? ok, i’ll stop).   After my first semester at Lake Superior College, I made the decision to switch my major (turns out the mortician career path was not for me… who would’ve known) and ended up moving back home and finishing school online when the pandemic hit.  Eventually, Ethan and I moved in together (naughty, I know) and resided in a little white house in Greenwald, MN for a little over a year. We also got a dog, Nora, who we love SO much, after being together for exactly a year.   On July 25th, 2020, Ethan proposed to me at the dam in Sauk Centre, MN. I’ll never forget this day, even though Ethan still tells me that he regrets his “unthought-out” proposal. To me, all that matters is that I get to marry the love of my life… and maybe that I love the ring (that I… or should I say we? picked out). Living life with Ethan as my fiancé has been a dream and I cannot wait for married life!! ❤️   I am now employed at Salon Alexis & Dayspa in Alexandria, MN as an Esthetician and Ethan works as a Sheriff Deputy for the Stearns County Sheriff’s office. We are both so lucky to have jobs we love!   On June 29th, we officially closed on our home in Belgrade where we now reside with our dogs, Hank and Nora. We absolutely love this place we have quickly made into our home and cannot wait to ‘fill it up’ a few years down the road😉… but, for now, we are so excited to begin our journey as a married couple and cannot wait to celebrate with you all on December 11, 2021! 💍
