Just kidding… it’s really not that epic.
In 2021, it seemed like the only way people were meeting was over dating apps. However, Alli was less than charmed by the men she was seeing on the dating apps in Rochester, so she thought to herself, “maybe I’ll set my radius a little bit farther and find a nice man in Buffalo or Syracuse who has a steady income and a golden retriever.”
Low and behold, the first dating profile to pop up was that of a man named Andy, with wavy hair, a cute crooked smile, and what’s that? A golden retriever! It was too good to be true. Andy wasn’t looking for anything serious and rarely went on his dating apps, but when he saw the picture of Alli in her blue shirt sitting outside of Sinbad’s on Park Ave, he sent her a smiley face emoji and it was an instant match.
Fast forward a month and a half, Andy was driving through a March snow storm from Buffalo to Rochester to come meet Alli and her friends on a Saturday night. What a guy! It was later revealed that before arriving to Alli and her bridesmaid Lex’s apartment, he had to pull over in the Trata parking lot to do some deep breathing exercises before he met the woman of his dreams.
As he walked up the front steps to the apartment, Alli texted him saying, “just come in!” It was then that he was faced with two girls, nerf guns in hand, lock and loaded. “Fire!” Alli yelled, as Andy was pelted with bullets from left and right until the nerf guns were empty. It was the perfect greeting in Alli’s eyes and Andy took it like a champ.
As Andy went to settle in, Alli ran into Lex’s room and revealed to her bestie that she was gonna marry him some day.
Ten months later, Andy packed his life up to move to Rochester. The next two years were filled with Saturday walks and trips to Spring Lake dog park, annual trips to Myrtle Beach, karaoke duets, countless bocce tournament victories, and plenty of dinner dates to the best restaurants in and around Rochester.
On a foggy Saturday in June, while they were doing their favorite thing- going on a walk with their golden retriever, Stevie, Andy finally popped the question at the end of the Webster pier. It was an obvious “yes!”
