Allison and Clay went on their first date at Barcelona Wine Bar in Nashville, TN in October 2020. They instantly hit it off over their similar music tastes, travel adventures, and small town upbringings among other things. A month later they officially began dating and continue to enjoy each other's company every day.

Clay's proposal consisted of a two-part plan. On a Friday night in August, Allison and Clay returned to the spot of their first date at Barcelona Wine Bar. Clay called ahead and requested to sit at the same table they had been at on their first date. Clay's plan hit a snag when they were greeted by the hostess with a "congratulations" and bottle of champagne waiting at their table (if you zoom in on the picture below, you can see the "Congrats" written on one of the glasses). After dinner, they stopped by the Nashville-famous Santa's Pub for a little karaoke before getting dessert at Jeni's Ice Cream. Of course, Allison was suspicious throughout the evening given Barcelona's celebratory dinner. Part two resumed the next morning on August 19, 2023, when Allison and Clay enjoyed a picnic at Sally Beaman Park near Clay's apartment. Clay even made his world famous sourdough bagels! After enjoying breakfast together, Clay popped the question and the two haven't stopped smiling since.
