In high school, we worked at Outback Steakhouse together and if Ally is being honest, she found Brian at the time to be awkward and a little aloof. He was nice enough, but nothing about him stood out at the time.

Years passed, and life carried us both in different directions. Then, in the most unexpected way, our paths crossed again. Ally was working at a shared office space, and Brian happened to work for a company that used the shared office’s services. When Brian checked in at the front desk on his first day, there was something that made Ally pause – “I know that face!”, she thought. It took her a few hours to make the connection that they had indeed met before.

Every morning, he started bringing Ally a banana. It was a simple gesture, but sweet and intentional. Some days, he would even bring sushi. We fell into easy conversations, reminiscing about growing up in Vienna, laughing over old memories we hadn’t even realized we shared. And then there was the music!

We instantly connected over it—not as musicians, but as professional appreciators. We could talk for hours about albums, concerts, and songs that shaped us. Music became the foundation of our growing bond, the soundtrack to our unfolding story.

Then, one evening, on a whim, Ally popped into his office and asked him on our first date. And just like that, everything changed.

Within months, we moved into Brian's townhouse in Reston, VA, where we built our first home together. It wasn’t always perfect, but it was ours. We filled the space with laughter, music, and love. And then came our angel puppy, the missing piece we didn’t know we needed.

When we moved again, this time to Sterling, we took our little family with us—our love, our shared life, our cat and the puppy who had become part of our story.

Together, we have faced every twist and turn, every high and low, knowing that through it all, there is no one else we’d rather navigate life with.

What started as a teenage indifference at Outback turned into a love story that neither of us saw coming. And through every new chapter, one thing remains true—we are each other’s favorite song.
