Honky Tonk 10/11/19

One weekend I was taking a girls trip to Greensboro to visit my friend Erin at UNCG along with my friend Hailey. The weekend plans were to go two stepping at a honky tonk on Friday and then a Professional Bullriding Event on Saturday. While out and about the Friday, my friends and I ran into Rob and his friends. Rob awkwardly approached me and around this time I was over the bar scene because it was getting rowdy. I told Roberto I was going outsite to sit on my tailgate and he was more than welcome to join. Rob came with me and we sat on the tailgate and talked for hours.

First Date!

After a week of chatting, We decided to go on our first date. Rob planned for us to go to an upscale lunch place in Charlotte, the date was incredibly awkward but I suggested we go to a diner shortly after we arrived. I am very low maintenance and I could tell Rob wasn’t comfortable at this restaurant so we went to a breakfast diner and it was much better and he was a little more comfortable. After our date we just drove around talking and getting to know each other. I really didn’t want to continue pursuing him after our first date but I prayed a lot about it and didn’t have peace about cutting him out, so from there we focused on a friendship that would eventually blossom.

The Friendship

What was really special is at this time I (Allyson), did not have any social media. I could not stalk Rob and he couldn't stalk me so we were getting to know each other the old fashioned way. We started to build a great friendship. He would take weekend trips to Wilmington with Zack Cartrette and the three of us would just do activities and explore. We became really great friends during this time.

Falling In love

After we formed a great friendship we realized we had a lot in common. From our beliefs, love for the outdoors, morals, life goals, we knew we're a pretty great match even though I was in major denial. My pastors wife encouraged me to pursue Rob because she could see the good work God was doing before I could. Shortly after I gave him a chance, we fell in love and started chasing life and God together.

Texas

All though it does not make sense to many people, we strongly felt God guiding us to Texas. The night I met Rob I told him God was calling me there and this was a big reason I was not interested in dating. He knew from the start that Texas was in the cards and when we started getting serious I told him to seek God for himself and see what Gods telling him. In the funniest and most blunt ways, God made it very obvious to both of us that Texas is where he wanted us to be. I moved down in the summer to work for a foster organization and came back in August!

The Proposal

In September we took a trip to Texas for our good friends wedding! During this weekend Rob planned out a whole plan with my friend Morgan to propose! Rob proposed to me at my favorite dance hall in Dallas TX, right after we finished dancing. I was completely caught off guard but so excited to start planning a future together.

The Big Move

About a month after we we're engaged great opportunities started coming from Texas and we knew we would be moving sooner than expected. We moved to Fort Worth the first week in November, I started a job with one of the largest global adoption agencies shortly after, and Rob started his job with a great company the day after we moved! We have been so excited to see what all God has been doing and are even more excited for what he has in store! We are both very passionate about children and working with the youth, so we are learning all that we can now to prepare ourselves for what God has ahead.
