Our Story

We've blocked rooms at the Sonesta Select in Elgin for Saturday 10/9 and Sunday 10/10. A short drive from our venue, The Haight, the Sonesta will offer shuttles to and from on Sunday! Flying in from out of town? This is the nearest airport to our venue and hotel. There are lots of options to get from the airport to the venue. Let us know if we can help answer any questions!

O'Hare International Airport

The Sonesta Select will provide a number of shuttles to and from the venue for those staying at the hotel. More details to come on exact timing! For those in need of parking, there are many lots and garages available around the area. The closest ones are:The lot on the West-side of the building at the corner of Douglas &amp; Symphony Way &amp;The garage at the corner of Douglas &amp; Symphony Way (opposite corner)

Fellow animal lover? Want to learn about wildlife with the kiddos? Explore one of Chicago Zoological Society's zoo's. A 40 minute drive of mostly highway from the venue, Brookfield Zoo is known for their focus on education and rehabilitation. Bonus for bike riders, there are trails leading to the zoo!

Things to Do

The term best friends doesn’t come close to describing the relationship Aly and Alex have. Having known each other since they were 8 months old, this dynamic duo has been through all of life’s wild and crazy, from sneaking into their own houses multiple times to being each other’s Maids of Honor on their big days 5 weeks apart. Aly couldn’t imagine this world without her sister, and can’t wait to enjoy newly-wed life at the same time. Find the original A-Team on the dance floor, cheers-ing to one of life’s exciting moments!

Zach and Andrew met at work when Andrew first moved to Chicago a long many years ago. When they say opposites attract, they aren’t kidding - this bromance has flourished from parties, to dj fun, to fishing and frisbee golf, and being a friend we can always count on. If that wasn't a recipe for long-lasting friendship already, Aly also gets to geek out with Zach over cars and the best new jams to vibe to. We always have fun with Zach and can’t wait to see his dance moves on our big day!

It turns out that Aly also has the habit of making friends at work! Kelly and Aly were partners in crime on their talent team where Kelly became a mentor, true friend, and they became Wine Wednesday Women with a spritz of Moscow Mule. Kelly is also mom to our Head Flower Girl, Sophie! There are few people who are always on your side, and we’re thrilled that Kelly is on ours on this special day.

No matter what they say, bosses can become your friend! As the first manager Andrew was lucky to work with in Chicago, Brian quickly made an impact beyond work. A gaming influencer, Brian introduced Andrew to Aly’s least favorite of his pastimes, Fallout. Who knows if he’ll ever be forgiven ;). An avid chef, true good peoples, and a wicked whiskey connoisseur, we are forever grateful that Brian is a part of our world and our day.

Another coworker turned friend, Emily and Aly quickly became super close. They've bonded over their silly partners and love for baseball and bevvies. Always there to listen about life, partner on processes, break out in dance, and bring an immense amount of joy to our lives, Emily is one of those friends Aly feels she's known for a lifetime. We are elated that Emily is standing with us on this day!

Talk about history! Marc has been in our lives for over twelve years and he’s always been a part of our family (are we really that old?!). From wandering into Kevin’s van with the driest of humor, to playing Halo for days, and never complaining as he and wife Roxanne help us move in 100 degree weather, Marc is and has always been that person we know we can count on. He is dad to four of our Flower Girls, Athena, Peyton, Scarlett, and Violet. We can’t imagine this day, nor life, without him and his family.

One of Andrew’s two amazing sisters, Jenny always brings the spunk and laughter everywhere she goes. Both lovers of animals and funky moves, Aly can’t wait to formally call Jenny a Sister-in-Law. Jenny is Mom to the ring bearer, Henry, and we are thankful she’s given all of us one of the cutest little potatoes you could imagine to be a part of our day, too.

Yep, you read that right, there are two Andrew’s in the wedding party! This gentleman of a man is married to the Maid of Honor, Alex, and we couldn’t be more excited that he is part of our day. What really got this A-Team going was a secret (okay, not so secret) plan to get Alex and Andrew together in college - it worked! Making up half of the A-Team and avid Star Wars fans, Andrew-squared never cease to get carried away in the lore and intrigue the universe has to offer. We’re so glad the force was strong with these ones.

One of Andrew’s two amazing sisters, Jordie inspires us with her quick wit and unbreakable strength. Jordie brings a grounding presence to any occasion, which we all know will be invaluable on the big day! Aly is so excited to finally get to officially call her a Sister-in-Law after all these years.

While Aly and Liz met at work, there is nothing formal about this friendship. Being the amazing human she is, Liz brings an intoxicating amount of fun and ease to everything. From bonding over birthdays, to love of sneaking work-provided snacks, to casual days and Naturdays, we can’t imagine this day without her.

Making friends at work is a habit of Andrew’s and we are so glad that it is! Santos and Andrew quickly became close friends, one could say ‘work husbands’, bonding over their love of too many car bombs in one evening, singing rock karaoke with air guitar and hair whips, and being the best cat dads around. These two truly are the same person split in two bodies and we couldn’t be more excited for Santos to be a part of this special day.
