This love story begins May 2, 2021. We were excited to meet in-person after messaging for a few days on Christian Mingle. Grabbing coffee downtown after church sounded like an ideal way to start getting to know one another. We were both anticipating a simple, straightforward first date. However, that day turned out far different than we expected!
After the (maybe somewhat awkward) first introductions and getting our coffee, we walked a few blocks down the street when a motorcycle accident crashed directly in front of us! We both rushed toward the accident to help, direct traffic, and call 911. Once the accident was under control with authorities, although we were shaken, we continued our date! We found a quiet spot and spent the better part of that afternoon talking, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. It was clear that we made a great team!
We decided we wanted to see each other again. The second date was a little less eventful (thank goodness!) than the first—other than one of us locking his keys in his car on the way.
On our third date, Ashton, my twin sister, joined us—and if that didn’t scare Dalton away, then what could?! And now, here we are almost two years later, excited to spend the rest of our lives together!
Our first year together brought so much joy continuing to learn and grow in our love for each other. We also both faced difficult trials and heartache that first year. Yet, we always had our faith to lean into, each other for support, and our friendship that continued to deepen. Yes, we’re both “stickers!”
We have had many adventures along the way. We’ve spent much of the last year getting to know each other’s families and friends, which often included fun road trips—some on our own, and some with our families. Road trips are one of our favorites!
Our greatest of all adventures began November 11, 2022. The day prior, Dalton suggested we take a day trip to Weston, MO. It sounded exciting and was a beautiful fall day. I didn’t know that he had ulterior motives—or that he’d been planning this day for the last few months!
We spent the morning and afternoon downtown in Weston before hiking (another of our favorite things to do) one of the state parks north of Kansas City. We laughed, joked, and had an amazing time enjoying the beautiful views! At the end of the hike is an overlook where you can see for miles. We were taking it all in when I began to wonder why Dalton was being so quiet. I turned to look at him and there he was on his knee, asking me to spend the rest of our lives together!!
We are excited to start our life together and build a family, and we can’t wait to celebrate our love and union with everyone in May 2023!
